Cyberpunk 2077 continues its rise from the ashes. While it may not boast hundreds of thousands of players currently, it is emerging from its troubled past, when it was notorious for its initial issues. This transformation is reflected in its reviews on platforms like Steam, where it is no longer labeled as ‘Mostly Negative’
Cyberpunk 2077 is making excellent use of its second chance, and now, after several years, it has the reviews on Steam that it rightfully deserved from the beginning. CD Projekt Red immediately recognizes this and celebrates this success by thanking its fan base.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Game Director Thanks Players for Second Chance 5 percent of Cyberpunk 2077‘s last 7,029 reviews are “Overwhelmingly Positive.”
After a disappointing launch in 2020, things appear to be on track for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red’s Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko recently stopped by X, formerly known as Twitter, and thanked the Cyberpunk 2077 fanbase.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is in a much-better place than it was at launch, the game is obviously still missing some major previously planned features. Fans added some of those features into the game via mods, but the core game is still short of a ton of promised content. Interestingly, it sounds like the Phantom Liberty Dlc will add some of those missing pieces back to the puzzle.
Leading up to Cyberpunk 2077‘s release, the game’s developers made a big deal about its police system. The plan was for Cyberpunk 2077 to feature a dynamic crime/police system that fit the themes of the game’s universe. On a very basic level, the idea was that the crimes you committed in Cyberpunk 2077 would all be judged based on how and where you commit them. So, if you kill someone in the middle of nowhere, you’d probably be fine. If you killed...

No matter how long you’ve spent attempting to map every one of Night City’s nooks and crannies since Cyberpunk 2077 launched at the tail end of 2020, there are still plenty of discoveries left to be made.
That’s according to CD Projekt Red’s Pawel Sasko, at least, who served as lead quest designer on both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the sci-fi RPG in question. Celebrating the 1-month anniversary of Cyberpunk‘s launch with their followers over on Twitter, he acknowledges the unfortunate issues players have encountered in-game, reassuring folks that the studio is working hard to fix some of the most egregious problems. A lot of these should have been resolved via patches already rolled out across multiple platforms, of course, so if you’ve been holding off on starting V’s adventure, now’s as good a time as any, especially if you’re on PC.

Even with all the Cyberpunk 2077 post-release blowback, my mind keeps wandering to this 2019 interview with lead Cyberpunk 2077 quest designer, Pawel Sasko.
While the part of that interview where Sasko says the developers obviously aren’t overworking themselves rings loud following CD Projekt Red’s decision to implement crunch scheduling, the bit that stands out most is the implication that at that time, Cyberpunk 2077 was nearly content complete. According to Sasko, the “year of work” that was left on the game (spoilers: it was longer than that) would largely be spent “iterating [it], polishing it, playing it, making sure it looks and feels the way we want.”
There’s obviously a lot to be said about how “polished” Cyberpunk 2077 is, but the thing I can’t get over is the idea that Cyberpunk 2077‘s content was essentially complete at that time. It’s a claim that we’ve heard the company repeat...
