Mini Bio (1)
In 2008 Sinisteria broke apart, due to many obligations that some members had, so Nikola started a solo project of ambient and film music called OARA which is still active today. Having no formal music education and piano lessons, Nikola started learning music theory and piano on his own.
In 2009, he was accepted to study Audio And Video Technologies at Advanced School Of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade (Serbia), where he met his best friend and roommate Stefan Kovacevic (frontman of Serbian metal band Forever Storm) and with him, formed a joint project of heavy metal and film scores called Project Brothers, which is also still active today.
In 2010 Nikola received a call from Hollydan Works, Serbian-Cannadian film production company, to compose a score for their feature film called "6 Days Dark" directed by Miona Bogovic. The score received a lot of good reviews at American Film Market(AFM) that year. Nikola is still working as an in-house composer and music director at Holydan Works. That year he published an Oara promo album called "The Battle" which received good review in Serbian "Nocturne" music magazine.
In 2011 Nikola was approached by Director Marko Backovic to compose a score for a short film "May The 1st, Maiden's Well Part 2" directed by Marko Backovic and Produced by Marko Backovic and Milan Todorovic(Zone Of The Dead). The film, with Nikola's score, received a "Best short film award by audience" at Serbian Fantasy Film Festival in 2011. During 2012 Nikola started working as an in-house composer and sound designer at "Iluzija" Society Of Animators, writing music and doing sound design for short animated films "Wise Grandpa", " Ero From Another World" and "Bagsalesman And The Monkeys". Also he became a member of Audio Engineering Society(AES), and won the Gold Award in Sound For Visual Media competition category at 132nd AES convention in Budapest (Hungary). That year he also became a member of SCOREcast Online, a community of film, TV, and video game composers. Nikola's music style varies from project to project, but always has his personal touch in every score, whether it's a pumped action track, or big epic symphony, quirky cartoon music ,etc... His signature sound is a blend of big string ensemble backed by powerful brass, and layered with unusual synths and sound design elements. Guitars are always a part of his scores, even though sometimes you can't recognize that those were guitars once. His biggest musical influences are composers James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, Jeremy Soule, Tyler Bates and Trevor Morris.
