5 April 2011 4:00 PM, PDT | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

Sure baby animals are cute and the stuff Awwws are made of but when they lose a parent, or both, thanks to human interference or forces greater than themselves, the jungle that was once their backyard becomes a scary place to navigate on their own.

Enter Birute Galdikas, a leading primatologist, and Daphne Sheldrik, a renowned conservationist - two women who have devoted their lives to rescuing, rehabilitating and nurturing orphaned orangutans and elephants. Director David Lickley, producer Drew Fellman and their brave crew travelled to Borneo and Kenya to tell the story of these selfless women and observe animals who were given a second chance. Born To Be Wild, narrated by Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman, brings to light a world few get to see and offers an intimate look at wild orphans and their unbelievable journey home.

Producer Drew Fellman talks Born to be Wild, running from lions and Morgan Freeman

17 March 2011 9:00 AM, PDT | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

When professional photojournalist Drew Fellman travelled to Borneo over 17 years ago and visited renowned primatologist Birute Galdikas' research station, the trip left an unshakable impression on him, one that would keep him looking for a way to properly share the amazing sights, sounds, people and young animals he encountered during his stay in Southeast Asia for almost two decades.

With a background in travel and documentary photography, and having dabbled in film with IMAX pioneers Howard Hall and Toni Myers, it didn't take Fellman too long to figure out that a documentary film about the animal orphan rehabilitation program he witnessed would be the ideal way to give audiences an intimate look at these amazing beasts in their natural habitats. And so Born To Be Wild was, well, born.

We had the chance to speak to Fellman, on the phone from the IMAX building in Santa Monica, about why this movie changed his life, »
