Tom Murphy was born in Salem Oregon. He is of Irish and Mexican decent.
Brought up in a colorful and vibrant family of different cultures,
orientations, political views, lifestyles, and morals; Tom Murphy has
always been one with variety. In high school, Murphy became obsessed
with his video productions class. He stayed after school for hours
working on a plethora of different projects learning how to use all the
technical aspects within the lab to the best of their abilities. After
over 250 student news episodes that he single handily directed,
produced, and edited as well as the "Mid-Valley Film & Video Fest"
award for "best amateur music video" He received the video production
senior award out of his graduating class. Murphy spent 4 years getting
a couple associates degrees and volunteering at CCTV Salem Oregon: the
local access television station. In 2010, Murphy did a string of videos
in which yielded employment on a couple film sets like "Verdict" and
"Terrible Angels." After some networking and on site experience, Mr
Murphy teamed up with a good friend named Caleb Maitland and won the
Salem Film Festival's amateur division as "Best in Show" with a short
film titled "The Last Laugh." Now Murphy is wrapping up post production
of the latest short "The Exit" and has entered it in film festivals
such as Sundance. Murphy gets a kick out of how media is expanding
every second and seeks to assert individualism, variety, and as much
originality through the media he creates in whatever shape, color, form,
or especially, film.
