Top Costumes of the Year 2013

28 December 2013 5:46 AM, PST | Clothes on Film | See recent Clothes on Film news »

What a busy twelve months it’s been for costume design. Really though, this art, or craft, or business (Deborah Nadoolman Landis insists it is definitely a business) gets more talked about each year. 2013 was especially exciting however as it seemed every month something even more thrilling arrived to fawn over. In the last few weeks alone we have had The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Sleepy Hollow, and now American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street on the horizon. Dipping back further, it was Stoker that got us excited about subtext, The Great Gatsby that slammed the lid on that twenties revival once and for all, and Behind the Candelabra that put Michael Douglas in a 16ft fox fur cape and white brocade jumpsuit.

With just so many memorable movies and TV shows to cover, Clothes on Film asked some respected contributors to the site for their opinions on the best, »

Disney Sets Release Dates for ‘Alice in Wonderland 2′ and Live-Action ‘The Jungle Book’

22 November 2013 1:46 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was a billion-dollar hit for the Walt Disney Company and since its lucrative run in theaters, the studio has begun to move forward with additional live-action film adaptations of classic stories that it has previously adapted in traditional animated form (if Disney announces a live-action Home on the Range movie, then we’ll know its really getting desperate).

Case in point: next year, the Mouse House will unveil its re-imagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale (by way of Wicked), with Maleficent (watch the trailer), followed in 2015 by Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella retelling, featuring Lily James (Downton Abbey) as the famous princess-in-the-rough. ...

'Downton Abbey' star Lily James: 'I'd love to do a fifth series'

10 November 2013 6:00 AM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Downton Abbey star Lily James has said that she would "love" to star in a fifth series.

Michelle Dockery - who plays Lady Mary - previously revealed that the hit ITV drama's "core cast" are signed up for another run.

"I'd love to [do it]," James (Lady Rose MacClare) told Digital Spy. "I'm really enjoying developing her.

"In the first year, she was in a bit of a whirlwind, a bit intense, so it's been really fun playing her this [fourth] series to find lights and shades and see the more sensitive side to her."

James - who will play the title role in 2015 movie Cinderella - also admitted that she was intrigued by the possibility of a Downton film.

"Why not?" said the 24-year-old. "[Though] our Christmas special is two hours anyway, so I guess they'd have to do something a bit different with it."

Why We're In: While Jackson's "The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey" is in no way as grand or as incredible as his "Lord of the Rings" films, it is still a fun and worthy visualization of the book.

Moviefone's Top Blu-ray of the Week:

"James Dean: The Ultimate Collector's Edition"

It may not hit theatres until 2015, but Walt Disney Pictures is giving us a first look at their upcoming live-action version of the classic fairy tale.

The film is also set to star Cate Blanchett as her wicked stepmother, Helena Bonham Carter as her off-kilter (naturally) fairy godmother, and Richard Madden ("Game of Thrones") as her very handsome and aptly-named Prince Charming. Frequent Branagh collaborator Derek Jacobi is on-board here as the King and Holliday Grainger ("Great Expectations," "Anna Karenina") and Sophie McShera ("Downton Abbey) are along for the ride as the infamous stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella. »
