'Baby Driver' Making Of Featurette Shows How Real the Stunts Were

14 hours ago | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"That's all completely real, there's no sort of trickery in that sequence." This is awesome! Sony has dropped a new making of featurette for Edgar Wright's Baby Driver showing how they pulled off some of the crazy car chase action sequences in the movie. Start by watching the trailer, then follow up with this featurette. They show bits of the driver training, as well as the actual filming rigs and techniques used on set to make this all seem real. And craziest of all is that half of it is real, they shot on location in Atlanta and most of the car stunts were real. Ansel Elgort stars as Baby, with a cast including Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, with Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. I am so so excited to see this. Can't wait! Here's the latest car stunts featurette for Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, »

Post-Brexit, U.K. Seeks New Film Partners

18 May 2017 9:00 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Britain’s impending breakup with the European Union will be a challenge for the country’s film folk, but many of their most important relationships are with American partners, and friendships are being formed in other parts of the world.

Recently, a large number of British auteurs have shot movies, based on their own scripts, in the U.S., such as Andrew Haigh with “Lean on Pete” and Lynne Ramsay with “You Were Never Really Here,” both of which received funding from the British Film Institute and Film4, the movie arm of broadcaster Channel 4.

“There is clearly a creative canvas [in America] that British filmmakers are drawn to, and the U.S. is incredibly open to that sort of collaboration,” says Isabel Davis, BFI’s head of international. “They recognize talent working at that level, and want to be a part of it, and are able to bring various types of financing into the picture. »

Edgar Wright only has four major features under his belt, but he's already regarded as a legendary filmmaker.

Three of these films make up the "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy, a series of films which are all directed by Wright, written by Wright and actor Simon Pegg, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End make up this thematic trilogy--which have a running joke of all being in reference to a different flavour of Cornetto ice cream. Despite this quirky running theme, the three films are vastly different. Shaun of the Dead is a zombie film, Hot Fuzz is a buddy cop movie, and The World's End is an apocalyptic pub crawl. All three are hilarious and highly regarded comedy films.
