Syfy Show Updates: The Woods in Development; Premiere Date and New Promo for Bitten

News on two shows heading to Syfy crossed our desk this afternoon, and figuring you're as anxious to kick off your weekend as we are, we thought we'd combine them here in one story to keep things quick and easy.

First off, for those of you looking forward to the new Canadian scripted series "Bitten," it'll be arriving Monday, January 13, 2014, at 10Pm following the season premieres of "Lost Girl" (Season 4; 8Pm) and "Being Human" (Season 4; 9Pm).


A new breed of werewolves is coming to Syfy with the acquisition of the first season of the new Canadian scripted series "Bitten" from leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne). Season 1 of "Bitten" consists of 13 one-hour episodes.

Based on the New York Times best-selling Women of the Otherworld novels by Kelley Armstrong, "Bitten" is an emotionally charged supernatural thriller starring Laura Vandervoort ("Smallville," Ted) as Elena Michaels, the lone female werewolf in existence. »

Nikita‘s Nerd and Fletch are reuniting for a buzzy Syfy project.

Noah Bean has been tapped to co-star in the cabler’s 12 Monkeys pilot, which previously cast the CW spy thriller’s Aaron Stanford in its lead role.

An adaptation of the 1995 Terry Gilliam film, Monkeys follows the journey of Cole (Stanford), a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

Good news for those of us who just can't seem to cram enough terror into our eyes and brains: Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak has sold The Woods to Syfy. Written by 90210 writer Liz Phang, The Woods follows a woman who “returns to the mysterious wooded mansion her sister disappeared from when they were girls, only to learn that the sinister beings that took her sister are still there.” So can Syfy do ghost-infested murder house better than FX? Consider that blood-soaked gauntlet thrown! »

Syfy Ventures into ‘Woods’ with Scribe Liz Phang, Chris Fedak

Syfy has teamed with scribe Liz Phang and “Chuck” co-creator Chris Fedak to develop a mystery drama about a woman’s search for her long-lost sister.

Phang wrote “Woods” as a spec script and brought it to Amblin TV, which is exec producing with Universal Cable Prods. Amblin then recruited Fedak to help Phang shape the concept.

Story revolves around a woman who returns to the mysterious mansion and discovers that the sinister beings behind her sister’s disappearance years ago are still there.

Phang spent two seasons on CW’s “90210″ and also logged a stint on HBO’s “Hung.”

Fedak, who became an in-demand showrunner following his five-season run at the helm of NBC’s “Chuck,”  is having a busy selling season with drama projects percolating at NBC and TNT, among other prospects.

The co-creator of NBC’s Chuck has landed a Syfy deal to develop his new horror project.

The Woods is executive produced by Chris Fedak, who co-created Chuck and served as showrunner on the cult-favorite dramedy. The script is by writer Liz Phang (The CW’s 90210, HBO’s Hung). We only have a little bit of detail about The Woods, but here it is: “A young woman returns to the mysterious wooded mansion her sister disappeared from when they were girls, only to learn that the sinister beings that took her sister are still there.”
