Captain America: Civil War movie review: the consequences of superpowers

18 hours ago | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Tough, unanswerable human questions frame spectacular, innovative action sequences that are like superhero ballets. This series just keeps getting better. I’m “biast” (pro): love the Marvel movies

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

What is the best way to deploy vastly superior abilities against less capable but nevertheless still very dangerous bad guys? How best to minimize collateral damage — of both the human and the infrastructure kind — when those vastly superior abilities are put to their use? What happens when people of good conscience, all of whom genuinely want nothing more than to increase net happiness and general well-being in the world, disagree over the answers to these questions? And who should get the final say: politicians sitting at desks thousands of miles away from the fields of battle, or the soldiers fighting those battles?

Spider-Man May Have More Dialogue In Civil War Than Superman Had In Dawn Of Justice

19 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Everybody loves Spider-Man, and his appearance in Captain America: Civil War is a pretty big deal for his fans. His debut in the McU and portrayal from actor Tom Holland have been praised by most critics and those who have seen the film. With so many other non-Spider-Man characters in the film, lots of fans have wondered exactly how much screen time the Wall Crawler actually has. We’ve heard rumors about the exact amount of time he’s onscreen but now we also have an answer to how many lines he says. The answer is 47, and as it turns out that’s more than Superman had to say in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.   The nerds have counted and Spider-Man had more lines of dialogue in Civil War than Superman did in Batman v Superman. »

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Climbs to $38.7 Million in First 2 Days at Foreign Box Office

22 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Disney-Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” has grossed a dominant $38.7 million in its first two days in 30 international markets, finishing first in all territories.

Disney noted that the superhero tentpole is pacing on par with last year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in the same  markets. “Ulton” grossed $946 million internationally, which is equivalent to $893 million at current rates.

South Korea leads the pack with $7.7 million after two days, followed by France with $3.7 million in two days and Brazil, which took in $2.7 million on its opening day on Thursday.

The Brazilian haul was the second-highest opening day ever in that market, behind only “Stars Wars: The Force Awakens” and 31% ahead of “Ultron.” Its market share hit 90%.

The Philippines has generated $2.4 million in two days, followed by Taiwan with $2.4 million in the same amount of time.

Australia grossed $2.4 million on its opening day on Thursday — 3% ahead of “Ultron” — with a 76% market share. »

Wolverine in the McU, what to expect from Avengers: Infinity War, and how does Robert Downey Jr. improvise? – the Anthony and Joe Russo interview, directors of Captain America: Civil War

29 April 2016 7:30 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Flickering Myth’s Oli Davis sits down with directors Anthony and Joe Russo to talk about their movie Captain America: Civil War

In one respect, Captain America: Civil War marks the passing of the Marvel Cinematic Universe torch. Or should that be hammer? Or shield? Of Infinity Stone?

Whatever metaphor for responsibility it is, director brothers Anthony and Joe Russo are at the forefront of Marvel’s Phase III. With Joss Whedon leaving the Universe after the culmination of Phase II in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Civil War marks the beginning of the ‘Russo Era’. They will soon be starting production on the studio’s most ambitious project: the two part Avengers movie Infinity War.

But how will their Phase III differ from Whedon’s work? With political subtexts running through both their Captain America movies – The Winter Soldier and Civil War – is this indicative of the Universe’s tone moving forwards? »

Captain America: Civil War, 2016.

Directed by Joe Russo & Anthony Russo.

Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, William Hurt, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Martin Freeman, Chadwick Boseman, Daniel BrühlPaul Bettany and Frank Grillo.

Synopsis:

The Avengers become divided over the issue of whether there should be a set of rules allowing the governments of the world to police them.

(Major Spoilers!)

So, is Civil War really Marvel’s best film to date, as some publications (including Empire magazine) have claimed? Well, in my opinion Avengers Assemble still holds that crown, but Civil War is definitely amongst their top five. It’s loosely based on the Mark Millar comic of the same name, but only shares basic elements of the plot; the Avengers (apart from Hulk and Thor; both Awol) are told that due to the enormous »

Why Tom Holland Was Disappointed By His First Time In The Spider-Man Costume

28 April 2016 2:05 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Silver screen superhero costumes have come a long way over the years. Modern special effects and technology have made it so they now look and feel ripped straight from the pages of our favorite comic strips. That being said, we.ve still heard plenty of stories about superhero actors not loving their costumes. The latest such story comes from Captain America: Civil War, as it turns out that Tom Holland was somewhat disappointed when he tried on his Spider-Man outfit for the first time because of the way it fit.   While speaking at the European premiere for Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland admitted to an interviewer that his Spider-Man garb didn.t initially live up to his expectations: Sadly, I have to say it was a little disappointing. My stunt double at the time was a little taller than I am, and I had to wear his suit because »

Defending The Amazing Spider-Man

28 April 2016 1:52 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

As the wall-crawler prepares to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War, Henry Bevan defends 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man

A child is trapped in a car that is hanging off a bridge. The hero swings down, takes off his mask and reassures the trapped child that everything is going to be alright. The web holding the car snaps and our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man webs the boy free, saving him for the world to see. In a lesser superhero film, pursuing the villain would have been the main objective, but Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man slows things down and shows our hero being a hero. From this scene alone, it is easy to say that Tasm is a misunderstood movie.

Sandwiched between The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, it was unfairly seen as a cynical superhero snack, the quick fix between Marvel’s bold experiment »

Captain America: Civil War Directors On Why Iron Man Recruits Spidey; IMAX Featurette Emerges

It’s a superheroic relationship that looks set to stretch beyond the parameters of Captain America: Civil War, now that Robert Downey Jr. is locked for next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and for good reason, Marvelites are chomping at the bit to learn more of Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s newfound bond.

Shedding some light on that duo today was Civil War co-director Joe Russo, who spoke with Screen Rant about Tony Stark’s inherent narcissism, and why that feeds into his burning desire to ensure Tom Holland’s Spider-Man stands alongside him once the chips are down and gloves are off.

To begin, the filmmaker admitted “there’s a certain narcissism to the character and Tony doesn’t want to lose this fight, and at the same time I think he also sees Spider-Man as the greatest living non-lethal weapon. If you’re going out to capture a »
