[describing the record-breaking run] Once over the top I gave Mallard her head and she just jumped to life like a live thing... I nursed her and we shot through Little Bytham at 123 mph and over the next mile the speedometer in the cab crept up to 124, 125, and then for a quarter of a mile we held the speed at 126 mph, while the men on board held their breath! If I had pushed her a bit more, I think we could have done 130 mph.
