Luana Lobo is a producer, partner and co-CEO at Maria Farinha Films (MFF).For more than 13 years, MFF has been a leader in impact entertainment in the Global South, focused on stories that spark positive social change. In order to expand and engage new audiences, MFF created Flow Impact, a spin-off division specialized in mkt & distribution strategy + communication and audience insights.
As a member of the UN Global Compact initiative, each of MFF's projects is designed to be a film-based movement committed to the UN's SDG (Sustainable Development Goals).
To Date, Luana has overseen production and distribution deals and is responsible for the integration and operationalization of MFF content and impact strategy for more than 50 films, series and other formats that have impacted audiences in mainstream platforms worldwide. The fiction TV Series "Aruanas" S1 and S2 (Globoplay), reached an average of 30 million viewers per episode, becoming a worldwide Twitter trending topic. Among other productions are the franchise "The Beginning of Life" 1 and 2, available worldwide on Netflix and "Sound of River" (10 million views - YouTube Originals).Luana oversees company-wide business operations, articulates and co-creates strategies together with platforms, activists, artists, socio-environmental organizations and other businesses engaged in social change, in a network with more than 100 impact partners worldwide.
Luana also co-created with Val Munduruku, Flavia Borges and Mazi Rodrigues, an analytical methodology to guarantee inclusive narratives from development to mkt. and distribution campaigns. Working together with a diverse number of sensitivity readers and local communities, this analytical method of sensitivity reading aims to access and point out sensibilities and opportunities creative teams should prioritize in order to contribute to the deconstruction of historical prejudices and stereotypes in our society.
Luana has over 16 years of experience in the film industry, studied at New York Film Academy and University of Arts London, and has past work experiences at Fox Filmed Entertainment and Lionsgate.
