Blackbird is an upcoming Stefan Ruzowitzky‘s drama that has quite interesting cast already on board – Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Charlie Hunnam, Sissy Spacek and Kris Kristofferson.

That’s not bad at all, but that’s not the end of that list, because Kate Mara and Treat Williams have just joined the project previously titled Kin.

The drama will follow a brother-sister pair of fugitives who encounter a young boxer recently released from prison.

Bana and Wilde are set to play the above mentioned pair, while Charlie Hunnam plays young boxer.

Sissy Spacek and Kris Kristofferson are set to play Hunnam’s parents, and, according to the latest reports, Treat Williams and Kate Mara will play a father and daughter whose story line is connected with the main plot.

Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky directs this project from a script by Zach Dean, with a production expected to start in Montreal next month. »

Casting Notes: Kate Mara & Treat Williams For ‘Blackbird;’ Actress Shortlist For Yankees Wife-Swapping Film ‘The Trade’

25 February 2011 5:30 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Last time we heard about the film Blackbird, it was called [1] Kin. That was when Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde were cast as “two desperate sibling fugitives (Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde) on the run who subsequently collide with the holiday homecoming of a troubled ex-boxer (Charlie Hunnam)." The film's name has changed, but that cast remains the same. Now Kate Mara and Treat Williams have taken roles, playing a father and daughter who factor into the story. Sissy Spacek and Kris Kristofferson are also on board as the parents of Charlie Hunnam's boxer. That's a pretty cool parent pairing; in general this is shaping up with quite the strong cast. Stefan Ruzowitzky is directing from a script by Zach Dean, and the film shoots in March in Montreal. We have a couple of quick casting stories for you this morning.  First up, Jimmi Simpson (Date Night) has joined the cast of Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter .  Variety reports that Simpson will be playing Lincoln's right-hand man.  While I'm sure he'll do a fine job assisting Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) in his political/vampire-slaying duties, I'll continue to struggle seeing Simpson as anyone other than the creepy McPoyle brother he plays on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter also stars Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.  Shooting is expected to begin next month.  The film is due out in 3D on June 22, 2012.  Hit the jump for news on Kate Mara and Treat Williams joining Blackbird. 127 Hours co-stars Kate Mara and Treat Williams have signed on to join the cast of the indie crime thriller Blackbird.  The film stars Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde »
