*Updated 5/5 with new events and guests* There are dozens of horror and comic events every year, and that gives fans plenty of opportunities to meet Robert Kirkman or one of the many cast members from The Walking Dead. Although it’s a bit early for some of the bigger conventions to announce their full guest list, we put together an initial list of stops so you can start making your travel plans.
New to the The Walking Dead convention circuit in 2013 are Vincent M. Ward (Oscar) and Lew Temple (Axel), along with some of the other new cast members we saw in Season 3. If you’re looking to catch most of The Walking Dead cast together at once, your best chance will be at the San Diego Comic-Con in July and the New York Comic Con in October. Those looking to meet Norman Reedus will have plenty of opportunities, as »

The Collection, 2012.
Directed by Marcus Dunstan.
Starring Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen, Tim Griffin, Andre Royo and Randall Archer.
Synopsis:
A traumatized man forced to help rescue a beautiful woman who has become the latest obsession of a crazed killer who collects humans in a booby-trapped house of horrors.
Another day, another horror film devoid of any scares, jumps or invention: bloody, dumb and unabashedly sickening film that means to “frighten” its audience with unabashedly gruesome images than actual scares. If the new Evil Dead movie taught us anything, it’s that the horror genre would do well to revisit its roots and focus on the good-old-fashioned jumps than trying to disgust them into submission.
The Collection is the sequel to 2009’s The Collector, in which Josh Stewart’s Arkin wrestled with a vicious serial killer. In its follow-up, Stewart returns as “the survivor”, brought in by a police unit, »

Originally conceived as a prequel to the long-running Saw movies and penned by Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan, the writing duo behind Saw’s 4 through 7 (and the awesome Feast trilogy), 2009′s fan-favourite The Collector finally gets it’s very own sequel in The Collection, picking up almost exactly where the first film left off.
Having previously been re-captured at the end of the original film, The Collection sees Arkin (Stewart) escape with his life from the vicious grips of The Collector during an entrapment party that sees hundreds killed and Elena (Fitzpatrick), a young partially deaf girl, imprisoned and abducted. Recovering from his ordeal in hospital, Arkin is once again abducted – but not by the evil Collector but by mercenaries hired by Elena’s »

The Collection, 2012.
Directed by Marcus Dunstan.
Starring Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen, Tim Griffin, Andre Royo and Randall Archer.
Synopsis:
A man who escapes from the vicious grips of the serial killer known as "The Collector" is blackmailed to rescue an innocent girl from the killer's booby-trapped warehouse.
In 2009, The Collector was released and while it wasn't a huge hit it did catch the attention of a lot of people. Coming from a couple of the writers from the Saw series, The Collector definitely tried to cater to that particular audience. While the initial premise was pretty solid I wasn't a fan of the film itself because it felt like another "torture porn" film and it had a lot of similarities to the Saw series. Jump to 2012 and we a get a sequel, The Collection, which wasn't something I had high hopes for but was pleasantly surprised »

Starring: Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen
Synopsis: After an ex-con escapes the clutches of a serial killer he’s blackmailed by a secret service operation to lead his previous captor to justice.
Review: From the opening credits The Collection ignites with pulse hammering action refusing to relent until the final sequence. The editing and cinematography are congruent in providing extraordinary degrees of exposition. We learn a great deal of the background to this story in very few short minutes. Newscasters around the dial are covering the grisly events transpired as a result of the killer. We as the audience are compelled to find out more about the circumstances unfolded, investing us deeper on a subconscious level into the film.
The killer is ominous, masked, silent and infernally ruthless like many other iconic figures in Slasher films. »

I’ve got a strange, abusive relationship going on with the writing duo of Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan right now because while I blindly follow their horror adventures time and time again, I’m not always left a happy camper. Sure, efforts like Feast, a highlight reel of their work throughout the Saw series, and The Collector made the horror fan inside me squeal with joy, but then there are the films like Piranha 3Dd, the less appealing moments tainting their Saw series work, and the squandered opportunities of the other two Feast movies which knock their fans right back into a failed B-Movie reality. Hit and miss seriously describes the two to a tee, so when I walked into a theatrical viewing of The Collection back in 2012, you better believe I had no bloody idea what to expect.
The Collection is a straight follow-up to their indie “torture-porn” hit The Collector, »

Director: Marcus Dunstan. Writers: Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Cast: Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen and Tim Griffin. Horror fans might know what they are getting into with Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan's latest, The Collection. These scriptwriters have created four Saw films together (Saw IV to Saw VII). They have also produced the Feast trilogy. So, there are many traps from the first film series included and little of the wit from the latter. There is also very little character development in this piece. Plotlines are meager, as well. Melton and Dunstan have instead decided to focus on spectacle. This bloodfest is heavy on gore, but characters are only partially fleshed out. A few of the characters do not make it much farther than the opening credit sequence. Soon, the Collector, a mute serial killer, is continuing his wrath from the first film, The Collector »

This Tuesday, March 26, Marcus Dunstan's slick and savage sequel The Collection arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD everywhere courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment, and we got a chance to sit with him and talk gore and more!
Co-written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, The Collection once again follows a twisted madman who "collects" humans, but this time we find ourselves locked inside his booby-trapped house of horrors. The sequel stars Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Lee Turgesen and Christopher McDonald.
Since we had spoken to Dunstan for The Collection's original theatrical release back in November, we thought for this interview we'd discuss some of the deleted scenes from the film, the excellent production design and much more. Be forewarned, however; if you haven't seen The Collection yet, the following interview might be a bit spoiler-y (if you haven't, feel free to check out our initial interview here).

By far, my favorite place to shop at in La is Del and Sue Howison’s awesome horror-themed shop, Dark Delicacies. I’ve been going there regularly for about five years now and it’s always fun. What makes Dark Del such a cool shop is that aside from their very impressive stock of books, movies, posters, toys, etc..Del brings some pretty awesome signings to the store multiple times a week, giving horror fans a chance to meet and get their favorite items signed by the people whom they love.
Icons of Fright head honcho, Rob G did a shop visit to Dark Del a while back, check it out:
The upcoming slate of signings at Dark Delicacies is turning out to be, like always, pretty impressive:

Lionsgate has announced the Blu-Ray release of Marcus Dunstan’s The Collection. The film stars Josh Stewart and Emma Fitzpatrick.
I absolutely love R-rated American horror films. They’re beginning to be few and far between, but whenever one releases theatrically and nationwide I’m usually one of the first in line to support it. This went for Marcus Dunstan’s The Collector and the same goes for his sequel The Collection.
I’ve supported Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s Saw-meets-slasher films since the very beginning and it frustrates me knowing that these things make little money, even on their already-tiny budgets. Why America is rejecting these films in favor of another Paranormal Activity is a question that I can’t answer.
They’ve loaded these films with practical blood and gore to satisfy any horror fan and yet they keep getting denied their moment in the sun. The Collector »
