Born and raised in Peoria, IL (the same hometown of legendary comedic genius, Richard Pryor) his first acting role was playing 'Sonny Latierri' in his high school's production of "Grease." His love for performing garnered a scholarship to study Business Administration-Entrepreneurship at Bradley University while competing for its famed Speech Team. With over 40 national championships, the Bradley Speech Team is the most successful collegiate team in any capacity, including sports (Associated Press). Kamal earned his Equity card with the Nashville Children's Theatre, and since has worked for nationally-recognized regional theaters in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Off-Broadway in New York City. Although on-camera work has become the main focus, he continues to sharpen his tool set by working in the theatre at least once a year.

Joined the Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Bradley University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration-Entrepreneurship.
Won Multiple National Championships with the Bradley University Speech Team.
Successfully managed an award-winning Hertz Rent-A-Car location in Nashville, TN.
He was nominated for a 2013 Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for Principal Actor in a Play for "The Opponent" at the Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
