The life of Brandon Burlsworth stands as one of the most inspiring football stories in the history of the sport, a tale of unrelenting determination and powerful character. Directed by Drew Hunt, the new film “Greater” tells the story of Burlsworth, the greatest walk-on in the history of college football.

Known for his distinctive black horn-rimmed glasses, Burlsworth (played by newcomer Christopher Severio) had always dreamed of playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks, but was considered too short and too fat to play Division I football. Undeterred, Brandon took a risk by walking on to the team in 1994. Despite criticism from teammates and coaches alike, Brandon succeeded in the face of staggering odds. Kevin James in Talks to Star in Football Drama ’44’ for ‘Blind Side’ Producers

Kevin James is in negotiations to star as a 44-year-old athlete in the drama “44” for Alcon Entertainment, producer of “The Blind Side.”

James will portray Joey Williams, a father of four who played for the Lambuth University football team in 2003 alongside his 21-year-old son. He had been recruited out of high school to play football at Tennessee Tech but injured his left knee during his senior season.

Heaven Is for Real” screenwriter Christopher Parker will write the script. DeVon Franklin, whose producing credits include “Miracles From Heaven” and “Heaven Is for Real,” is producing with Todd Garner, Lisa Kors and James.

“Heaven Is for Real” has topped $23 million for Sony in its first eight days of release. Carl Rogers is overseeing “44” for Alcon.

Kors purchased the life rights for Williams’ story after she heard a National Public Radio story about him.
