Brian is educated and skilled in both the camera and editing department. He is a native of Westport, Co.Mayo and received a BA: Hons Degree in Media: Theory and Production in Paisley University, Glasgow, Scotland. He has completed a lighting for feature films workshop with Mo Flam under the National Talent Academy.
In 2021, Brian set up his own film production company, Western Front Studios. In the same year received a Leader grant, which aided him in investing in cinematic equipment with the aim of attracting bigger productions to the West of Ireland.
He was part of the team that won the Ardan / RTE film bursary this year and is DoP on the short film project Remote Strutting (Dir: Lorna Fitzsimons) currently in Pre-Production. He has just finished principal photography on the Offaly Film Bursary winning short film A Simple Killing (Dir:Jason Branagan). He has worked with each of these Directors before in the capicity of Cinematographer on both the Engine Funded short film #Bog, and the South Dublin CoCo winner Picture Day. Picture Day has been nominated for a Shark Award. Other achievement in 2023 include They Can't Know About Me (Dir: Mick Carolan) and Barry Versus the Binman, winning film of the Westmeath Film Bursary, and Best Cinematography at DCIFF and the Mayo CoCo Road Safety Advert The Choice is Yours (Dir: Alan Friel).
He worked as the Second Unit Cinematographer on Director Alan Friels film Woken, produced by John McDonnell, Fantastic Films (2022).
Other notable achievements include short film Bruise (2022) (Dir: Mo O'Connell),an honourable mention from Oscar nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey for Brian's cinematography at Louth Film Festival 2022, nominated for Best Cinematographer at the Richard Harris Film Festival 2022. Best Cinematographer at Canadian Cinematography Awards (CaCA) and European Cinematography Awards (ECA).
