Between 1995 and 1999 he obtained the DEUG, the bachelor and the Master's degree in Arts du Spectacle Mention études cinématographiques at the University Rennes II in France. During his studies, he directed the short film called "J'attends" and a the non-fiction short film based on a Godard text entitled A Deux Mains.
In France he also directed the play Woyzeck by Buchner, and also participated in the staging of "L'inspecteur Général" based on the play The inspector's work by Gogol.
Since his return to Colombia in 2000 He has worked as a TV Spot director for Teleset, República Films. The last two years he has worked at Rhayuela Films and for the Venezuelan company Los Sopranos.
He has directed important advertising campaigns for clients like
Avianca, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Nestle and Sanford Newell, and he was the winner of the Nova Festival and the Caribbean Festival. In Colombia, he is recognized for printing drama and tension to the image. The TV Spots have been a breeding ground
for his visual and narrative exploration, which begins in the subtleties of the performance and the styling of the image to create dramatic and realistic scenarios. In 2011 Jaime directed the TV Serie called "El Laberinto".
Now, he is a renowned film director in Colombia. In October 2011 he released his debut "El Paramo aka The Squad" written and directed by him. This film has attended the Biarrtiz Film Festival, the Fantastic Film Festival, the Sitges Film Festival where it won the Citizen Kane award, the Palm Springs
Film Festival, and the Guadalajara Film Festival where it won the Mayahuel Award for Best Iberoamerican Screenplay.
In May 2012 The Squad participated in the Seattle Film Festival.
