After seeing political commentators spout extreme rhetoric about a mass shooting, Lola Blanc wondered: do they actually believe any of it? That question served as the creative impetus behind her brand new short film, Pruning, starring the one and only, Madeline Brewer. Talking heads like Tomi Lahren became the basis from which the rest of the film grew.
In its original inception, Pruning was not a body-horror film at all. It was a character study. Co-written with Jeremy Radin, the film examines the social and moral implications of extremist beliefs. Blanc utilizes horror elements to tell the tale of a right-wing commentator named Sami Geller (Brewer) who struggles with her conscience and being a mouthpiece for the alt-right. “We had outlined a version of it, and we were like, ‘It’s just not getting at the thing enough–the horror that this really should be capturing.’ So we dug a little deeper.

"I've seen what drugged up driving can do... You know what drug I hate the most?" So they finally made a sequel to Team America: World Police! Well, not really. But this is about as close as anyone can get! A Puff Before Dying is an incredible 10-minute marionette short film, made by filmmakers Michael Reich and Mike Pinkney. Apparently this is a real PSA, but I can't find any info on for who - clearly one of the states where marijuana is legal now. (The "Federal Road Safety Foundation" is made up.) A wild night of pot and "drugged-up driving" ends in tragedy for three teenagers that happen to be marionettes. Please don't smoke and drive! Or else this! The voice cast: Annie Mebane, James Kirkland, Lola Blanc, Tashi Condelee, Michael Reich. Wherever this came from, it's amazing, I can't believe it's real. Take a hit and, uh, be safe.

Good morning!
Shawn Ashmore says his relationship with Anna Paquin's Rogue in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future is still up in the air. I'm hoping this means Rogue decided Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde was more her speed.
Rachel Maddow was on The Tonight Show last night discussing unemployment in sexy blue glasses.
Canadian musician Anjulie is performing at the Dinah this year and maybe that influenced her new lesbianish video for "Allison."
Anjulie told Spinner of the video:
"Allison" is a song I wrote about a girl's obsession with another girl who represents fame, style, glamour and fun. It's about pop culture and the fanatic desire people have either to become the It Girl or be friends with her. In the video, Allison is played by the amazingly captivating Lola Blanc and the matching blue and red...

Synopsis
When the cast of Opus arrives to an empty house in the desert, none suspect foul play. After all, each of the seven cast members were hand-picked from online submission videos to be part of an unscripted horror film. But as their cast mates start to turn up murdered, the actors begin to turn on one another. The house is locked down from the outside, and the cast scrambles to find the truth.
