Will Crystal Bowersox Be Disqualified from 'American Idol'?

Will Crystal Bowersox Be Disqualified from 'American Idol'?
Yesterday a medical emergency kept Crystal Bowersox and the rest of the Top 10 girls from performing. Today, with the girls' scheduled to perform in less than six hours, the question still looms: will Crystal Bowersox be well enough to perform? And an even bigger question, if she can't perform tonight? What fate will Crystal face?

This morning American Idol producer Ken Warwick went on Ryan Seacrest's show to answer (and avoid) questions about Crystal's illness and her future in the competition. It would seem as of this moment, it is still all very much up in the air. Doctors were evaluating Crystal this morning and we will learn their final decision tonight on Idol. If the doctor's forbid her to perform, Warwick made it seem as if she would be disqualified, instead of allowing voters to call in for her as they were able to do on So You Think You Can Dance

Interview with Noelle Marsh of 'So You Think You Can Dance'
This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Noelle Marsh, the latest dancer to be eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance.

The bubbly, preternaturally positive Noelle was everything in her interview that we saw and enjoyed about her on the show. She was gracious, grateful, and giddy to share her love of dance. Noelle chatted about her Bff Mollee, dancing with Russell and Ryan, and her excitement for the season 6 So You Think You Can Dance tour.

Time to Give "So You Think You Can Dance" a Second Chance?

Something has changed on So You Think You Can Dance. And I'm not just talking about the sad departure of Mia Michaels, or that strange sulphuric smell ever since an over-hyped Katie Holmes stunk up the place with her pre-taped Judy Garland song and dance "tribute." (Yeah, we're all still scratching our heads over that one.)

No, the change I'm referring to is a good one: The show isn't so darn homophobic these days.

This season's Top 10 dancers: Pictured back row L-r: Russell Ferguson, Mollee Gray, Nathan Trasoras, Ryan Di Lello, Jakob Karr, Ashleigh Di Lello and Legacy Perez. Bottom row L-r: Kathryn McCormick, Noelle Marsh and Ellenore Scott.

In previous seasons, Sytycd had a readily apparent mean streak when it came to the gays. Male dancers who were on the... uh... lesser side of butch were routinely criticized for not having enough "chemistry" with their female partners.

Latest 'Think You Can Dance' result

Noelle Marsh and Nathan Trasoras have become the latest two dancers to be eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance. The contemporary dancers, both 18, were sent home from the Fox competition during the first audience-determined elimination of the season last night. Their departure means that this season's top eight finalists have now been revealed. Speaking to E! News following the show, judge Mary Murphy said: "We were kind of shocked that America didn't take to Nathan the first few weeks, because he's an amazing dancer. "When you tell the general public that you (more)

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Are the Guys Better Than the Girls?

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Are the Guys Better Than the Girls?
"Sad Wednesday" is still the worst day of the week for us So You Think You Can Dance fans, but this week, we're really only weeping for one of the eliminees. The eliminated dancer we'll miss happens to be a girl, but according to executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe, "If America was voting, and we were not doing girl and boy, the girls would be voted off first." Eek! Could that be true? Here's who went home, and here's what we're hearing about that gender divide... Sweet youngster Noelle Marsh and controversial kiddo Nathan Trasoras went home in the first audience-determined elimination of the season. Why those two? Perhaps they...

So You Think You Can Dance Guest Columnist: Shuffle, Ball, Change!

So You Think You Can Dance Guest Columnist: Shuffle, Ball, Change!
To better cover the technical talents of season 6, we've brought on  Dr. Goddess, a guest columnist with decades of dance experience. She will share her dance-pertise in a weekly column recapping and reviewing So You Think You Can Dance with an eye on technique.]

This week's review of So You Think You Can Dance will involve substantial criticism of the choreographers.

The show began with a hip hop piece by new choreographer, Jamal Sims. Noelle Marsh and Russell Ferguson performed the storyline, characters and tennis racket props very well at first but then lost it in the end. While Noelle did pretty well, especially with the dodge-the-bullets-in-slow-motion Matrix dance, Russell brought more energy, confidence and commitment; and he should have, as krumping is a clear sibling of hip hop. Still, the judges were right---they did not take full control of the performance and the props---but the choreography was also too

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Why the "Stunned" Judges Sent Bianca Home

So You Think You Can Dance Backstage Scoop: Why the
It was a tough night for the tappers on So You Think You Can Dance. Both Bianca Revels and Phillip Attmore were sent home, but we caught up with the judges backstage and learned it didn't have to be that way. In fact, Bianca's fate wasn't sealed until the final minutes of tonight's episode, when two judges outvoted the third and sent home Bianca, saving Noelle Marsh to dance another day. What made the difference? Here's what we learned... Judge Nigel Lythgoe wanted to save Bianca, but it didn't go his way: "I didn't want to lose two tappers tonight, but we decided it was Phillip [going home for the guys] early on. I think we were unanimous on that tonight, and then we had to...

  • BuddyTV
It's time for our Top 18 dancers to take the stage and for two of those dancers to be instantly eliminated by the judges. Not only will the Top 18 dance tonight, we'll get the final word on Noelle Marsh and her knee injury and how that will affect the competition. Follow along with me here and on Twitter, as we watch the Top 18 perform together.

Nigel on Noelle: Thems The Rules...Or Are They?

  • BuddyTV
During last week's So You Think You Can Dance Top 20 performances, we only saw 19 contestants perform. Contemporary dancer Noelle Marsh was allowed to sit out the performance show because of a knee injury. It seemed slightly unfair to me that Noelle was given a bye, while a dancer who had put it all out on stage was eliminated. And it wasn't just me, when asked nearly 60% of you said it wasn't fair that Noelle was allowed to continue in the competition after not dancing last week.

Not so says Nigel Lythgoe, who in spite of invoking fairness during Brandon Dumlao's elimination, insists that Noelle's situation is just following the rules of So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel took to Twitter early Halloween morning to defend the shows decision to give Noelle a free pass, saying that "the rule is 'if advised by a Dr. not to dance, you get 1 weeks grace.

Twitter Tracker & Translator: Noelle Marsh Edition

  • BuddyTV
It would seem for season 6, the previous So You Think You Can Dance Twitter ban has been lifted on contestants, because the remaining Top 18 dancers continue tweeting up a storm. While this Monday has seen updates from Legacy (offering Monday advice), Mollee Gray (who wants to have some fun) and Pauline Mata (who is enjoying the sunshine), the most interesting 140 characters came from Noelle Marsh.

As we all know, Noelle sat out the Top 20 performance show with a knee injury. Nigel Lythgoe and company were gracious enough to give Noelle a bye for week one (much to the chagrin of the eliminated Ariana DeBose) to wait for Mri results and see if her knee would heal. Based on her most recent Tweet and my incredible power of deduction, I would venture that Noelle will be dancing on this week's So You Think You Can Dance Top 18 performance show.
