- Lisa Jey Davis is a publicist, an award-winning writer, new media producer and the founder and principal of Jey Associates Marketing & PR. Her book Ms. Cheevious in Hollywood (released 2015) won best unpublished manuscript at New York Book Festival in 2007 among many other awards, and became a bestseller. It details her post-divorce years navigating "single-parent" life while pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. The book became the premise for her weekly blog Ms. Cheevious -- Enjoying Every Moment (www.mscheevious.com). The blog, along with the use of various social media platforms (YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook), sparked a widespread movement of supporters who follow the hilarious, indelible antics of a single woman and mother, living her dreams on her terms and despite the odds.
Prior to establishing Jey Associates, Lisa Jey worked in the world of entertainment television, managing show talent (Gwen Stefani, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Nellie Furtado, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and more) for music-based one-hour specials on networks like MTV, VH-1, CBS, (some specials of note: the "NFL Super Bowl Bash," "A Motown Christmas," "MTV Movie Awards," "ICON," "Rock the Vote" and many others). She continues to produce for television and new media, as well as book talent for select projects.
Lisa Jey has written for publications and organizations such as The Associated Press, The New York Review, Aspen Sojourner Magazine and Mountain Parent (among many others). She has written television news and radio segments, as well as scripts for televised entertainment industry events. She's been the featured radio show guest (on the "Best People We Know" show, "Sonic Byways" with Jamie Lynn Miller in Aspen, Colorado and more), appeared on "The Doctors" TV show, been interviewed by TheIndieChicks.com, Technorati and more.- IMDb Mini Biography By: LJD - Lisa J. Davis is the tenth daughter in a family of eleven children. She was born and raised in the rugged, small southwestern town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the base of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. Her mother was an Italian immigrant and her father, of Western European descent, was from Dallas, Texas. After graduation from high school, "LJ" or Lisa Jey (as she became known by friends and colleagues) attended the University of New Mexico, majoring in (among other things) journalism and communications.
Her first business, DATASAVERS, later known as Aviso Information Management Services, met a need in the 1990s for computer services, desktop publishing, and marketing within her small southwestern community. LJ seized this opportunity as a small business owner to capitalize on her mad networking talents and her expertise in marketing and public relations. Her creative instincts and knack for communicating effectively also led to writing for regional publications, television news segments, radio programs, and later for televised entertainment industry events.
LJ became involved in several community and media organizations, and her business was nominated for artistic awards in direct marketing campaigns for writing and design, from the state chapter of the Communication Artists Association.
An extreme wanderlust and an adventurous spirit took LJ on a journey into the unpredictable world of employment in television production. After undertaking a degree in Communications & Journalism at the University of New Mexico, and subsequently interning as a production assistant for local news (operating teleprompter, camera, and serving as sometime news desk assistant), LJ went on to associate produce the news part-time at a local network news station in Albuquerque. Careers in television were few and far between in that little corner of the southwest, so LJ and her family moved to Southern California, where she began to pursue a career in L.A.'s thriving entertainment industry.
As soon as she moved to Los Angeles, Lisa Jey landed a job as a freelance talent manager working with fashionistas, celebrities, and television producers at MTV, CBS, the NFL and more.
She has worked with legends like Sting, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and popular artists and celebrities like Sheryl Crow, Incubus, No Doubt, Ben Affleck, Jack Black, Kate Beckinsale and Matthew Perry, just to name a few. Though her niche was in the management of talent, after a few years LJ missed the creative work she'd grown accustomed to as a marketing and public relations consultant. She soon found herself working most often in PR and marketing than in television production.
She has more than two decades of involvement in various women's media, professional and political groups. Her life's work is to relate to and represent women as both a freelance writer and a marketing and PR professional. She knows what it is to start anew in a dream job or career and can translate that into real-life examples for women branching out into unchartered territories in their own lives.
For the past two decades, among her other creative pursuits, Lisa Jey has continued to serve as marketing and public relations expert to a varied clientele, including such industries as entertainment, Internet, technology, fashion, lifestyle, professional services, and publishing. She has lent her expertise as a freelance writer to various media outlets and publications such as The Associated Press, Aspen Sojourner Magazine, Mountain Parent, The New York Review, Mountain Home Style, Fifth Column Magazine and Albuquerque Monthly Magazine, as well as numerous other print and online publications and blogs.
A dynamic and gifted communicator, Lisa Jey packs her speaking and presentation messages with deep insights, contemporary relevance, and humorous, real-life anecdotes, whether writing for select columns or speaking to a group of colleagues, congressmen, or to thousands at a women's conference.
Once LJ landed back into the realm of PR, marketing, consulting, and writing, this opened up the possibility of working anywhere USA. THE anywhere for Lisa became (at least for a few years) Aspen, Colorado, which presented its own unique opportunities and adventures. Her life, however, is most complete in Los Angeles, where she now lives. She owns and operates her own marketing and public relations firm (Jey Associates) and works daily with clients, as well as on various projects, speaking, and participating in occasional television and new media projects.- IMDb Mini Biography By: LJD
