Wayne Slaten is an award winning American independent movie producer, director, screenwriter, cinematographer and editor. Slaten began developing projects under the shingle Moonlite Filmwerks in late 2007. He went on to direct the thriller Cold War (2011) which was later selected as part of an international short film competition to screen at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. That same year, Slaten was a quarterfinalist in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition for his script Patriot Act.
Slaten wrote and directed his first feature length movie Backroad released in 2012. He worked on the family film The Costume Shop (2014) starring Stephen Baldwin and Haylie Duff then directed the spy-thriller Osprey (2017) starring Eric Roberts and Navid Negahban.
Slaten's short film Red Pearl (2015) won the NASA Jury Award at the CineSpace Film Festival and screened aboard the International Space Station before airing on PBS in 2016. Through f/64 Films Slaten directed the artist documentary Ash: The Art of Wayne Gilbert (2017) and the sci-fi feature film Dropa (2018) in co-production with Texas based Gaucho Productions.
