In a turn of events that can only be described as aca-obvious, Universal has firmed up plans for Pitch Perfect 3 by setting the new installment for release on July 21, 2017.
It was previously revealed that scribe Kay Cannon was returning to pen the threequel, and now it’s confirmed that she’s not the only familiar franchise player in the mix. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have both signed on to star as Beca Mitchell and Fat Amy (respectively) in the new entry, maintaining their status as the main faces of the series.
This was not a sure thing, due to the fact that (Pitch Perfect 2 Spoiler) Kendrick and Wilson’s characters graduated college at the end of the second installment, leaving new Bella recruit Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) to recruit a new generation of a cappella performers. How they’ll be involved this time is being kept under wraps. (End »

After breaking records with “Pitch Perfect 2,” Elizabeth Banks added another laurel and gave an inspiring message to teen girls as she was honored at Step Up’s Inspiration Awards Friday at the Beverly Hilton.
Step Up’s after-school mentorship programs serve teen girls to help encourage them to finish high school. Mc Cristela Alonzo announced that for the sixth consecutive year, 100% of Step Up’s active seniors graduated high school and have been accepted to college.
“Pitch Perfect 2’s” Ester Dean and Skylar Astin introduced their director, sharing that she started working at the age of 12 because someone discovered that she wore the same pants to school every day. Her motto: You won’t get what you don’t ask for. “Our movie grossed $69 million opening weekend and set box office records for a first-time director. We hope this inspires women directors and maybe some Step Up girls »

Universal Pictures released their new comedy flick, "Pitch Perfect 2," into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out and thought it was fantastic, serving up even more great performances, laughs and more. It stars: Brittany Snow, Anna Kendrick, Katey Sagal, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine, Hailee Steinfeld, Ester Dean, Kelley Jakle, and Hana Mae Lee. In the new flick, the plot reveals that Beca (Anna Kendrick) has led the Barden Bellas to three more Acapella college championships, bumping up the timeline to Beca's senior year. They're a really hot group now, performing for various other events. However, they end up getting into major trouble when Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) has a major wardrobe malfunction that ends with her showing her vagina to the whole world, including the President Of The United States. From there, the Bellas end up getting suspended from all competitions and recruiting activities. »

Given the fact that the first film was such a success with audiences across the globe, in particular inspiring people across the world to recreate Anna Kendrick’s cups song on post the videos on YouTube, it’s not surprising that a sequel to Pitch Perfect was in order. But where to take the story? After all the first film was – if we’re honest – little more than a cash-in on the Glee/mash-up craze of the time. And on top of that the first movie had a finite ending as the Barden Bellas found success in the A Capella National Championships… So there »

It turns out that most of them were fond of it, giving it an overall 67 score out of a possible 100 across 31 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film stars: Brittany Snow, Anna Kendrick, Katey Sagal, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine, Hailee Steinfeld, Ester Dean, Kelley Jakle and Hana Mae Lee. We've supplied blurbs from a few of the critics, below. Leah Greenblatt from Entertainment Weekly, gave it a very nice 83 score, stating: "PP2 sometimes feels less like a movie than a two-hour episode of Glee ghostwritten by Amy Schumer; jokes fly like they’re being shot from T-shirt guns at a gonzo pep rally, and not all of them stick the landing." Right before my screening of Pitch Perfect 2, I gave the first film a rewatch. I remembered very little of 2012's Pitch Perfect aside from a few funny quips from John Michael Higgins, my annoyance with the lip-syncing, and the delightful nature of its lead, Anna Kendrick. Watching it again, there is a lot to like. When the film leans in a more Christopher Guest direction by simultaneously making fun of and embracing the a cappella world, it is quite funny and heartfelt. When it shifts over into Judd Apatow territory, with schticky performers like Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine just riffing, the whole movie just gets boring. Unfortunately (for me at least), the surprise audience the original found gravitated towards those schticky bits, which means the sequel is filled with twice as many, if not more, of these moments. Any scene involving Wilson's Fat Amy cannot progress without her »

When Pitch Perfect was released in September 2012, the film, about an underdog college a capella troupe named the Barden Bellas, was one of the year’s surprise hits, earning more than $113 million at the box office. Smart, endearing, and charmingly square, the movie supercharged the careers of Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. One of the other Bellas was already a star, though, albeit of the backroom variety: Ester Dean, who played Pitch Perfect’s Cynthia, has over the last few years amassed co-writing credits on a slew of pop hits, including, among others, Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.” But spending long hours in recording studios wasn’t scratching a particular career itch. “I like to entertain because I write songs for people to dance to and sing to,” Dean tells me by phone before explaining that being on the Pitch Perfect set compelled a career epiphany. »

The ‘Crazy Youngsters’ video is led by singer, actress, and Pitch Perfect 2 cast member Ester Dean, who belts out the song while riding on one of London’s famous double-decker buses.
