Kara grew up in a small town in Minnesota. She attended college for two
years in Mt. Vernon, Iowa at Cornell College and double majored in
Spanish and Theatre Arts, along with a minor in French. She then
transferred to Ashland, Oregon to attend Southern Oregon University
where she received her BFA in Theatre Arts. After completing undergrad,
she lived in Los Angeles for two years and worked as an extra on
several television shows while working in the Entertainment Department
at Universal Studios Theme Park Hollywood. She also worked at the Santa
Clarita Repertory Theatre as an actress.
She is the daughter of Jill Kent, a retired certified professional
midwife, and Mark White, who works for the government.
She has 5 siblings, one older sister and four younger brothers.
She has one daughter, Madison Nanson-White.
In 2007, she and her daughter moved to Austin, TX. She worked for
several years at a non-profit organization, called Mothers' Milk Bank
at Austin as an Outreach Coordinator. The organization processes and
pasteurizes human milk to be given to premature infants. She now works
at an office that provides therapy services for special needs kids. She
is also a co-owner of a theatre company in Austin called Punchkin
Repertory Theatre.
