Naturalist, TV Host and Science Advocate Phil Torres is a graduate of Cornell University with degrees in Entomology and Biology. With a passion for discovery and adventure, Phil was host of the weekly science and tech show TechKnow on Al Jazeera America for two years. The Denver native also appeared on Discovery and Animal Planet as a host and 'bug' expert. He has worked extensively in the Amazon Rainforest, having lived remotely there while leading conservation research and education projects for over 4 years. During his scientific expeditions around the world, Phil has discovered over 45 new species many of which were covered in global popular science media. As a science reporter, he has taken a submarine to the bottom of the ocean, an ice breaker into the Arctic, and tackled sharks with shark conservationists to help satellite tag them. Phil's unique science communication abilities and unique nature photography have put him on the map and his discoveries have been seen, heard, and read about in media throughout the world. Phil is also host of United Airlines 'Big Metal Bird' series.

Brother of former WWE Diva's Champion Eve Torres.
Phil helped to discover over 40 new species by the age of 20 during scientific expeditions in Venezuela and Mongolia.
Phil was bitten by an anaconda during an expedition into the Intangible Zone in remote Amazonian Ecuador.
One of Phil's most publicized discoveries was a spider that constructs a fake, larger spider in its web using silk, leaves, and dead insects. This is the only known animal (besides humans) that creates another animal from scratch and was Wired Science's #2 story of the year in 2012.
Phil is credited with revealing the Donald Trump Caterpillar to the world, a fuzzy yellow caterpillar which resembled Donald Trump's wig, which was shown in print media globally, on MSNBC, and on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Phil has long practiced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with the Gracie Academy in Los Angeles. He has used this training to fight off muggers in Quito, Ecuador, and to chase down a thief after he witnessed a robbery in New York City.
After graduating Cornell, Phil won $100,000 as a contestant on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" and earned more than any other Ivy League graduate on the show.
