Universal Take On ‘Rosaline’

24 May 2013 2:48 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Although originally in the hands of Fox 2000, Rosaline has been handed over to Universal Pictures.

Adapted from the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle, the film will follow the alternative story of Romeo And Juliet and what would’ve/could’ve/should’ve happened if our leading male had made it with his original love interest Rosaline, Juliet’s cousin. Below is the official book synopsis from Serle’s website:

Rosaline knows that she and Rob are destined to be together. Rose has been waiting for years for Rob to kiss her – and when he finally does, it’s perfect. But then Juliet moves back to town. Juliet, who used to be Rose’s best friend. Juliet, who now inexplicably hates her. Juliet, who is gorgeous, vindictive, and a little bit crazy…and who has set her sights on Rob. He doesn’t even stand a chance.

Allison Williams, Emilia Clarke for Romeo & Juliet rethink 'Rosaline'

24 May 2013 2:15 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Allison Williams and Emilia Clarke are in line to star in Rosaline, it has been confirmed.

It was rumoured last month that Girls actress Williams was in talks for a key role in the revisionist take on Romeo & Juliet, which retells the story from the perspective of Romeo's jilted first love Rosaline.

Williams and Clarke are set to play Rosaline and Juliet respectively, while Dave Franco is in talks to play Romeo, but no deals have yet been made.

Adapted from Rebecca Serle's novel When You Were Mine, the script has been written by (500) Days of Summer scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber.

The project is now set to move to Universal, where Shawn Levy (Real Steel) will produce.

Lily Collins and True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll were previously rumoured to be in consideration for the roles of Rosaline and Juliet.

Rosaline Moves from Fox 2000 to Universal Pictures

23 May 2013 4:09 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Universal Pictures is in negotiations to pick up Rosaline out of turnaround from Fox 2000.

The project is based on the Rebecca Serle novel When You Were Mine, which was published last year by Simon Pulse. The story is a revisionist take on William Shakespeare's classic romance Romeo & Juliet, told from the perspective of Rosaline, Juliet's cousin and Romeo's first love, whom he dumped after meeting Juliet.

Rosaline previously had Allison Williams, Emilia Clarke, and Dave Franco set to play Rosaline, Juliet, when the project was at Fox 2000. However, no deals that were set up at Fox 2000 will be inherited in the Universal deal, meaning the studio will start casting from scratch.

Michael Sucsy (The Vow) is attached to direct from an adapted screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ((500) Days of Summer), with Shawn Levy producing. No production schedule was given.

'Game Of Thrones' - Second Sons

22 May 2013 7:13 PM, PDT | AirlockAlpha.com | See recent Airlock Alpha news »

This review may contain spoilers. With all the bad luck that seems to follow characters in .Game of Thrones,. at least Daenerys Targaryen appears immune for the time being. Camped outside the slave city of Yunkai, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) wants to free the city.s slaves and purge its government. She arranges a meeting with the city.s mercenary army known as the Second Sons, who join her to discuss switching sides. But the negotiation quickly stalls. Although the dragons were not present in this scene, the mercenaries actually have the stones to reject her offer as their leader fires off more insults than the now extra-crispy slave master from Astapor. If it wasn.t for the presence of their lieutenant, Daario Naharis (Ed Skrein), the Second Sons would hardly be worth the effort, »

'American Horror Story' and 'The Big Bang Theory' lead Critics' Choice TV Award nominees

22 May 2013 11:10 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The third annual Critics' Choice Television Awards features what is becoming the awards' signature mix of no-brainer and under-the-radar nominees.

So while "Breaking Bad" and "Homeland" are nominated for best drama series, so is "The Americans." The best comedy nominees include "The Big Bang Theory" and "Louie," but also "The Middle."

"Big Bang" and "American Horror Story: Asylum" lead the nominees with six apiece. "Parks and Recreation" and Sundance's miniseries "Top of the Lake" have five each. There were a couple of surprise omissions too: "Mad Men" was shut out of the best drama nominees, and of the cast only Elisabeth Moss scored an acting nomination. Ditto for "Modern Family" on the comedy side; Sarah Hyland was the only cast member nominated.

The Critics' Choice Television Awards are set for June 10. "Parks and Rec's" Retta will serve as host.

Game of Thrones Season Three - Episode 8 Review

21 May 2013 7:45 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Oliver Davis reviews the eighth episode of Game of Thrones Season Three....

Second Sons.

Directed by Michelle MacLaren.

Written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

It's the ante-penultimate episode (the one before the one before last). Episode 8 is usually the build-up for the season's main event in Episode 9. In series one, it laid the foundation for Eddard's be-ned-ing. In series two, it preceded the Battle of Blackwater Bay. Series three's teases the Riverlands' version of Kate and Wills, Edmure Tully's wedding to one of Lord Frey's daughters, and is full of subtle glances and looks before the undoubted spectacle of next week's installment.

Tyrion

...and what better to way to foreshadow a wedding than...another wedding? Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) wed Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in a (literally in so many ways) small, awkward ceremony where everyone hated each other. Cersei (Lena Headey) ended a conversation with her future daughter-in-law, Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), saying, »

“Game of Thrones”: Angry Birds

This week the sisters were doing it for themselves – just don’t tell Cersei! She’ll cut you. Also: someone tell ToriAmosandre that leeches are only acceptable foreplay after the third date. Manners, girl!

Arya (Maisie Williams) awakens looking at a rock. She picks it up (revealing that she is seriously overdue for a mani) and hauls it over to where The Hound (Rory McCann) is sleeping. He tells her to go ahead – but if she doesn’t kill him, he’ll break both her paws.

Turns out The Hound is a great manny! He puts her on the horse with him, tries to feed her, and says that she’s lucky he has no interest in raping and killing her – and even reveals that he saved Sansa from a similar fate. Arya’s all, “Get. Out.” He also tells her that he’s taking her to her mom and brother, »

'Game Of Thrones' Actors Peter Dinklage & Carice Van Houten Find New Roles, In 'Hop Frog' & Greta Garbo Biopic

20 May 2013 7:40 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Over time, the cast of "Game Of Thrones" are slowly conquering Hollywood. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been seen in "Mama" and "Oblivion" so far this year, Richard Madden just won the male lead in "Cinderella," Emilia Clarke is teaming up with James Franco, and Kit Harrington has the lead in Paul W.S Anderson's "Pompeii," among just a few of the cast of the show who are going from Westeros to the big screen. But after last night's episode, which as we said in our recap, had particularly memorable moments for Tyrion and Melisandre, it feels appropriate that this morning brings news that the actors who play them have just landed new movie roles. Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion, is currently filming his secret villain role in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," but after that, Screen Daily say he's lining up "Hop Frog," an adaptation of the story by Edgar Allan Poe. »

‘Game Of Thrones’ Recap: Tyrion’s Wedding Ends In Death Threats

19 May 2013 9:32 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Plus, Daenerys makes a sexy new ally — and, oh my God, leeches!

I can’t imagine anything more awkward than Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) giving Sansa (Sophie Turner) away at her wedding to Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) — who’s now better known as “the god of t**s and wine” — and yet that’s exactly what happened on the May 19 episode of Game Of Thrones, which also saw the series’ most intense White Walker encounter yet!

Anyway, Tyrion and Sansa’s super-uncomfortable union had all the requirements for a classic Westeros wedding, complete with rape threats and a war of words between Cersei (Lena Headey) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer). Perhaps I could best sum up their interaction with Cersei’s final threat: “If you ever call me sister again, I’ll have you strangled in your sleep.” What. A. Bitch.

Come sex time, Tyrion was so drunk that he could barely stand — classic T! »
