Disney Channel Renews ‘Jessie’ For Fourth Season

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of Jessie for a January 2015 premiere. The live-action comedy series stars Debby Ryan, Kevin Chamberlin, Peyton List, Karan Brar, Cameron Boyce, and Skai Jackson. Ryan, who also produces, is slated to direct an episode this summer. There’s also a wedding arc set for this fall in which Jessie gets engaged. From 2014 to date, Jessie is TV’s No. 1 telecast in its time period, and overall, is TV’s No. 2 live-action series in kids 2-11 (1.6M/4.0) and  kids 6-11 (1.3M/5.4), and the No. 4 TV series in tweens 9-14 (1.2M/4.8), according to Nielsen. Disney Channel’s ‘Jessie’ Renewed for Fourth Season

Jessie and the Ross kids will return next year for a fourth season of Disney Channel comedy “Jessie,” the network announced today.

The live-action family fave, whose third season is currently airing, will begin production on season four in August, to premiere in January on the network.

For 2014 to date, “Jessie” is TV’s No. 1 telecast in its time period, and overall, it’s TV’s No. 2-rated live-action series, in kids 2-11 (1.6 million/4.0 rating) and kids 6-11 (1.3 million/5.4 rating), and the No. 4 TV series in tweens 9-14 (1.2 million/4.8 rating).  Its most recent episode, last Friday, averaged 2.38 million same-night viewers and was the night’s No. 1 program (broadcast and cable) in teens and other younger demos, according to Nielsen.

Muppets Most Wanted Premiere

The premiere of Muppets Most Wanted brought out the biggest A-listers, both muppet and human. Of course, the movie's stars were there like Tina Fey, Ty Burrell and Ricky Gervais And Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog and Gonzo. Additionally, the stars of TV shows like "Mighty Meds" Jake Short and Paris Berelc, "Dog with a Blog" star G. Hannelius and "Jessie" star Karan Brar all stopped to talk to our friend J.J. Peabody Parenting: A Dog for a Dad?

Mr. Peabody & Sherman may be about time travel and history, but it also presents an interesting question - one you've probably never thought about before. What would it be like to have a dog for a dad? Here's what the kid cast members of Mr. Peabody & Sherman had to say:

"I would love to have Peabody as a dad," says Ariel Winter, who plays bratty Penny. "He's super smart. I would love that if I could just have his knowledge."

"The best thing would be the looks you get when you're walking down the street with a talking dog and you're calling the dog, dad," says Joshua Rush, who voices Sherman's wheelchair-bound friend, Carl. "The worst thing would be slobber and stuff, I mean, I don't know how Sherman puts up with that."

Exclusive: Disney Xd's Lab Rats Gets Season 3 Premiere Date; Reveals Guest Stars

Disney Xd's hit comedy Lab Rats returns Monday, Feb. 17 with a one-hour premiere at 6:30/5:30c, leading into the channel's premiere of Disney Channel movie Cloud 9. Lab Rats stars Billy Unger, Kelli Berglund and Tyrel Jackson Williams will also appear in interstitials during commercial breaks to "host" the telecast.

Guests on the show this season include Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier, as well as Disney Channel star Karan Brar (Jessie). Also, Lab Rats star Hal Sparks makes his directorial debut with an episode.

’12 Years a Slave,’ ‘The Butler’ Score Big in NAACP Nominations

The NAACP announced nominees for its 45th annual Image Awards, with Weinstein Co. nabbing 17 bids in the film categories thanks to “The Butler,” “Fruitvale Station” and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” followed by Fox Searchlight, with seven, for “12 Years a Slave.”

Bet and CBS lead TV nominees, with 19 and 16, respectively, followed by ABC (15) and HBO (13). RCA leads the recording category with 10 noms, followed by Atlantic Records (eight) and Columbia Pictures (seven).

Winners will be voted upon by NAACP members and some will be announced Feb. 21 during an awards ceremony for non-televised categories. The remaining categories will be announced during a two-hour TV One telecast Feb. 22.

The nominees were announced during a press conference at the TV One presentation to the Television Critics Association during its Winter 2014 Press Tour in Pasadena. NAACP Image Awards committee chairman is Leonard James and TV One prez-ceo is Alfred Liggins. Roslyn M. Brock is chairman of the NAACP. »
