Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has opened up about his disconnect with longtime bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, while also ruling out a Sabbath reunion.
A hypothetical Sabbath reunion that would include original drummer Bill Ward has been discussed ad nauseam since the band completed its 2016-2017 “The End Tour” with Tommy Clufetos behind the kit. For various reasons, the reunion has been more of a pipe dream than a legitimate possibility.
Speaking with Rolling Stone about his new memoir, Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath―And Beyond, Butler put what appears to be the final kibosh on the idea. “I don’t think Ozzy’s up for it anyway,” he said.
As Butler reveals in his new book, the lines of communication are currently closed between him and Ozzy, though it isn’t due to a personal beef: “Me and Ozzy are fine, it’s just that we’re both ruled by our wives.

Last week, Ozzy Osbourne fans raged online after tuning into the Rams-Bills game to watch the halftime show: the Prince of Darkness’ first performance on a U.S. stage in nearly three years. But NBC aired only 10 seconds of the gig — a snippet of “Patient Number 9,” the title track of Osbourne’s new album — before cutting to commentary.
Now Osbourne is releasing a video of the full show, featuring “Patient Number 9” and his signature song, “Crazy Train.” The singer’s backing band for the gig included producer Andrew Watt...

Two of Black Sabbath’s original iron men — Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi — made a surprise reunion in their hometown of Birmingham, England, on Monday night with a performance at the city’s Commonwealth Games. They performed their classic “Paranoid” alongside two musicians who joined them on their final tour, The End: Adam Wakeman, who played bass and keyboards, and drummer Tommy Clufetos.
After teasing the intro to “Iron Man” with Osbourne bellowing “I am Iron Man” backstage, the group sparked up “Paranoid.” Osbourne rose up from the...

Mötley Crüe’s long-delayed reunion tour finally kicked off Thursday night at Atlanta, Georgia’s Truist Park. And while drummer Tommy Lee was only able to play on a handful of songs due to a major rib injury, they did have Machine Gun Kelly in the house to join them on the live premiere of “The Dirt (Est. 1981).”
“The Dirt (Est. 1981)” was recorded by the Crüe for the soundtrack to their 2019 Netflix movie The Dirt, which starred Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee. It was, by far, the newest song they played during the show.

Tommy Lee won’t let a few broken ribs keep him from the stage. The drummer defied doctor’s orders and performed during Mötley Crüe’s opening night of their stadium tour on Thursday with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
“Man y’all ain’t gonna believe this shit!,” Tommy Lee wrote on social media. “I broke four fucking ribs! But I’ve been resting and healing and even though the doctor tells me I shouldn’t play at all, you know I’m stubborn and I...

Jason Isbell revs up Johnny Cash’s trucker anthem “All I Do Is Drive” for the soundtrack to the new Netflix film The Ice Road. Both film and soundtrack are out now.
For his version, Isbell adopts Cash’s signature rhythm and fills out the arrangement with some extra rock & roll muscle in the form of lightly distorted guitars that match the walking patterns of the original. He also shifts it to a different key to account for the differences in their range. The end result has the feel of...

Earlier this month, original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward went public with his desire to reunite with the group via a video on his Twitter account. “I wanted to say that I love Tony [Iommi, guitar], Geezer [Butler, bass] and Ozzy [Osbourne, vocals] very much,” he said. “I’ve loved them for a long time, and I still do. And I would be very open-minded to any ideas about playing together in the future. That’s it. Love you all. Thanks.”

Ozzy Osbourne has always delighted in playing dealmaker with his audiences: “The crazier you fuckers go, the longer we play,” he told the crowd at Allentown, Pennsylvania’s Ppl Center several times on Thursday night. Looking around, though, he may have been the craziest one there. Although the 10,000 or so fans screamed, clapped their hands, chanted “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” like sports fans and even peppered in the random, heart-spilling “I love you, Ozzy” from the upper seats — by all metrics the kind of crowd any performer would kill for — he...

Ozzy Osbourne will be retiring from the road after a lengthy world tour. Taking place over two years, Osbourne will zig-zag globe on his “No More Tours 2,” a reference to his 1992 tour of the same name. Longtime collaborators Zakk Wylde, Blasko, Tommy Clufetos and Adam Wakeman will join the Prince of Darkness on this final run. “I’ve been extremely blessed to have had two successful music careers,” Osbourne said in a press release. “I’m looking at this final tour as being a huge celebration for my fans and anyone who has enjoyed my music over the past five decades.” Also...
