Adele and Katy B have been confirmed to play the Mercury Prize ceremony in London next week. The singers will join a bill which includes performances from all 12 of this year's nominees, marking a first for the Mercury Prize ceremony since its inception in 1992. Tinie Tempah, Elbow, Everything Everything, Anna Calvi, Ghostpoet, Gwilym Simcock, James Blake, Metronomy, Pj Harvey and King Creosote & Jon Hopkins will also perform. The BBC will be providing extensive coverage of the September 6 event across its television, radio and online formats. Soul singer Adele, indie rocker Anna Calvi and and electronic musician James Blake were among the musical artists from the United Kingdom and Ireland nominated for the 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize. The prize is awarded annually to recognize the best album recorded by an artist originating from the British Isles. The twelve finalists were announced this morning in London.
