'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 7: No top 20, partners change weekly

Nigel Lythgoe is announcing big changes at "So You Think You Can Dance" this season.

All week he has been tweeting out some pretty major rule changes to the "Sytycd" world.

Via Nigel's twitter account:

**First rule change. Only one dancer will leave the competition each week and not two. Many more changes to come by the end of this week.

**Another rule change for Sytycd this coming Season. The partners will change every single week.

**This Season will not have a top 20. The pieces are falling into place. More tomorrow.

We're doing a conference call with Nigel on Monday, March 29, so hopefully we can get some clarification about these rules. No top 20? What does that mean? More dancers? Less?

And as for switching partners every week, we have to think that could be detrimental to the taller women or shorter men. There's a reason that someone short like Season

The 'So You Think You Can Dance' Results Are In, But Who Will Win?

By Sabrina Rojas Weiss

Usually, by this point in the season of "So You Think You Can Dance," there are at least two very clear favorites and then a few dark-horse dancers waiting in the wings. As far as I can remember, past winners Nick Lazzarini, Joshua Allen, Benji Schwimmer and Sabra Johnson won our hearts immediately with their surprisingly wide range of talent and adorable personalities. But when the top 10 performed this week, I was still absolutely stumped about who will win the title of "America's Favorite Dancer."

On the other hand, I can't be the only one who knew Hawaiian heartthrob Kupono Aweau and perky cutie Randi Evans were not long for this competition. Kupono's looks aside, he just doesn't match up in physical strength (witness the way he struggled through his lifts in this week's paso doble), and as Nigel Lythgoe said a few weeks ago, he

'So You Think You Can Dance' Results July 16

  • Inside TV
The stakes got higher on this week's 'So You Think You Can Dance,' which featured the very talented top 10 dancers. The voters alone decided who went home (no more saves by the judges) and the axe fell on Randi Evans and Kupono Aweau. Randi and Kupono danced a paso doble together this week, which the judges feltlacked passion and strength. The other male and female dancer in danger were Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi. ...Read more

So You Think You Can Dance: Chatting with Randi Evans

  • BuddyTV
During her time on So You Think You Can Dance Randi Evans wowed the judges with her power, perseverance, her booty, and bubbly personality. Though she became the 6th girl to be eliminated from the competition last night, you couldn't tell that from the her positive attitude and audible smile. This afternoon, Randi took the time to chat with Sytycd press about her time on the show, her dance challenged Hubby, and what dance she hopes you'll be seeing her perform on tour.

Meet the Men of "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 5

Full disclosure: I'm a rabid So You Think You Can Dance fan. Every summer for the past four years the talent on display on this show simply blows every other reality competition out of the water. So much so, that one can even overlook the nagging, hetero-cheerleading presence of producer Nigel Lythgoe on the judging panel.

Nigel's peculiar obsession with the masculinity of male dancers aside, Sytycd raises your standards when it comes to dance. I mean, once you start watching this show it is awfully hard to sit through an episode of Dancing with the Stars.

Sytycd is now in its fifth season, and every year we wonder if they can assemble dancers talented enough to stack up against previous season standouts such as Travis Wall, Danny Tidwell, Neil Haskell, and a host of others.

Well, last week the show announced its finalists for the new season, and the
