Shannon Weiss(I)
- Editorial Department
- Editor
- Director
Once upon a time, not terribly long ago, Shannon Weiss came to a
realization: she had watched the VFX portion of the Lord of the Rings
special features disc as many times as she had watched the film itself.
In that moment she realized people actually made movies for a living.
That initial interest in post production fueled Weiss' academic and professional career. Her first venture into filmmaking was a documentary about Alfred Hitchcock that Weiss submitted as a class project at Eastport/South Manor High School in Manorville, New York. A few years later, Weiss graduated with a BFA as the Salutatorian from Long Island University. Weiss acquired an MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where she mastered top industry survival skills-time management, animating in After Effects, and waiting tables.
At long last, after living in Sydney, Australia and various parts of the US, Weiss put down roots in Los Angeles where, by day, she works an editor and assistant editor. She still finds time to get her nerd on by marathon watching Chuck, Psych, White Collar, Castle and Sherlock (among others). Weiss encourages you to contact her if you wish to discuss the awesomeness of Super Mario Brothers, the latest version of your favorite editing platform, and/or any future collaborations.
