My Little Pony fan conventions are incredible: 7 pictures of 'Bronies'

You may have previously thought that My Little Pony was just an '80s children's cartoon, primarily aimed at young girls. You couldn't be more wrong.

We thought that the Hasbro toy and TV franchise, which was a worldwide smash 30 years ago, had lost its sparkle in recent years. We couldn't be more wrong.

A new National Geographic documentary, Outsiders with Darren McMullen, will prove that the world of My Little Pony is currently booming thanks to hugely popular fan conventions. The twist? These events are not attended by young girls. These fans are largely adult men.

1. They call themselves 'Bronies'.

The documentary host, Darren McMullen, meets the My Little Pony enthusiasts, who have christened themselves 'Bronies' (a mash-up of bros and ponies).

2. The fancy dress element is taken very seriously.

McMullen joins in one of the biggest parts of the Brony celebrations - the fancy dress contest. The guy has some serious competition,

It'll take place at Mannofield Park in Aberdeen, with Scotland including a handful of Aberdonians in their lineup and eager not to suffer humiliation at the hands of an England team who, after a difficult few months, could use a morale-boosting victory. Love in the Wild: NBC Reality Series; Cancel or Season Two?

NBC recently concluded the first season of a new summer reality competition series, Love in the Wild. It's sort of a cross between Big Brother and The Dating Game with a bit of Survivor thrown in. Those have all been on television for many years. Will Love in the Wild last as long, get a second season, or will it just be cancelled like so many others?

Hosted by Darren McMullen, Love in the Wild takes 10 single men and 10 single women and pairs them up for a variety of tough physical challenges in the remote jungles of Costa Rica. They have to depend on one another and become closer in very unique ways. During eliminations, the contestants come together and reveal if they want to stay with their current partner or if they want to get to know someone else -- often causing some broken hearts.

'America's Got Talent': Melissa Villasenor vs. Charles Peachock for the last spot

The final quarterfinal results show for "America's Got Talent" should prove interesting. Should Charles Peachock not advance due to the judges' choice at the end, I shall not be recapping anymore - as I will have thrown my laptop through my TV and will have neither machine with which to recap anymore. (Update: *sigh*).

The first results group is Taylor Davis, Avery and the Calico Hearts, Frank Miles and Fatally Unique. Only Fatally Unique deserves to advance out of this group, so it's a good thing that's who advances! They are so happy, it brings tears to my eyes. And Piers is so kind to them, really praising how hard they have worked to improve. I will say - I'm surprised Fatally Unique was in the Top 3 vote-getters. I thought they would be in the judges' choice for sure.

We'll be skipping over the Howie/Piers "prank" and the Jason Derulo performance,

'Love in the Wild': A medical emergency and a forced switched

Tonight on "Love in the Wild" comes the forced switcheroo that host Darren McMullen told Zap2it last week would change the game for the rest of the episodes. Mike in particular is not a happy camper at the switch.

Everybody is basking in their comfy partnerships that they have found. Hahaha, just you wait - dun dun dunnnnn. They can't let the couples get too comfy or else the show will lose all 24 viewers it has because it'll be boring. Also? Brandee is upset Ben hasn't kissed her yet. Ughhhh.

In the morning, Darren announces the switch. The way this works is first off, the first-place couple does not get a guaranteed switch. Secondly, now it's guys' turn to choose and Mike is ticked off. They draw for order - Skip picks Jessica, Ben picks Samantha (well, Mike should feel confident he can get her back), Steele picks

'Love in the Wild's' Darren McMullen teases next week's forced switcheroo

"Love in the Wild" is the new delightful summer fare from NBC, where couples are paired up for competitions - and for romance. Host Darren McMullen tells Zap2it that the big shake-up next week has repercussions for the rest of the season and the initial finale idea got thrown right out the window.

We saw in previews Wednesday night (July 20) for next week that the couples, who seem to have settled in with the pairings they like, are forced to switch - which was Darren's brainchild.

"I was like, 'These guys are just getting too boring!'" laughs McMullen. "This is all about love and exploring other options and some of them hadn't even explored any options. And I thought let's mix things up a bit."

And the results of the switcheroo are felt all season.

"Not just this next episode, but the fallout from people being with other

'Love in the Wild': 'Could be wedding bells for more than one couple'

"Love in the Wild" is the newest reality show offering this summer. NBC's "Bachelor"-meets-"Survivor" adventure romance kicks off Wednesday night (June 29) and host Darren McMullen tells the press that there were definitely some good matches made.

"Without giving too much away, I would say a significant number of people found true love, to the point they are sneaking around seeing each other [now that the show has wrapped]," says McMullen. "I think everybody was genuinely surprised at the amount of people that actually, truly fell for each other."

He even goes so far as to tease possible weddings. "There could be wedding bells for more than one couple, I will say that," McMullen divulges.

That's good to hear, especially on the heels of yet another "Bachelor" franchise break-up.

So what makes this such a good environment to foster these relationships? McMullen says it's a bit of the "Romancing the Stone" phenomenon.

"There were poisonous snakes,
