Mini Bio (1)
P.J. Starks was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky. Getting interested in film at an early age, P.J. started his professional career when he accepted the job of videographer/editor at OCTV, a local not for profit television station, in May of 2000. He has been working there ever since, sans a small stint the summer of 2004 when he moved to Florida and took a job at Universal Studios. P.J. has several non-professional projects under his belt including 2 feature length comedies and a short slasher film. In 2007 he collaborated with his good friend and colleague, Rodney Newton, to create the horror film Hallows Eve: Slaughter on Second Street. Their micro-budget indie opus went on to garner much attention including being featured on such major websites as Dread Central, Bloody-Disgusting and Arrowinthehead. It also gained mention on USAToday.com as well as The Hollywood Reporter.com. Due to the local success of the Writer & Directors first professional effort he, along with his partner, were asked to help David Breckman (writer/producer/director Monk and SNL) with his directorial debut film Murder In Kentucky during the 2009 International Mystery Writers Festival. Starks received a Co-Producer credit as well as helping co-edit the editors assembly of the film. Most recently in the summer of 2010 Starks wrote and directed his passion project A Mind Beside Itself, a psychological romance. The summer of 2010 was very productive as he worked with Lee Goldberg (writer/producer Diagnosis Murder, The Glades and Psych) on his short film Remaindered, of which he was Director of Photography and Co-Editor. Goldberg's film premiered in San Francisco in October 2010 to rave reviews from television and film legends. Starks then worked as Associate Producer on Reality for an Indiana filmmaker.
