17 hours ago | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

They've done what they've had to do to survive on AMC's The Walking Dead, brining hope and despair to palpable life on the small screen with gritty realism every week. Covered in grime, splattered in blood, and trudging down the sun-baked backroads and brush-bordered trails this season, the stellar cast and crew of The Walking Dead have paid their dues and then some, and now they're getting a tip of the cap in return with seven nominations for the 41st Annual Saturn Awards.

Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Emily Kinney, Melissa McBride, Chandler Riggs, and Andrew J. West have all earned nominations, with the TV series itself receiving one as well. Also recognized in this year's nominations is Scream Factory's Nightbreed: The Director's Cut Blu-ray, NBC's Hannibal TV series, Only Lovers Left Alive, and many more.

Marvel’s summer box office smash “Guardians of the Galaxy” followed close behind with nine nominations. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” followed with eight, and “Edge of Tomorrow” and “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” grabbed seven apiece.

Two of last year’s big television winners, “The Walking Dead” and “Hannibal,” lead the 2015 smallscreen noms with seven and six, respectively. “Continuum,” which airs on the Syfy channel and averages less than 1 million viewers, is the next most nominated show with four.

The Walking Dead Recap: Meet Deanna Monroe

1 March 2015 7:00 PM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

In "Remember," Glenn (Steven Yeun) said it best when he told the survivors' de facto new leader: "We need to make this work. ... We were almost out there too long." It wasn't new information, of course, but that reality was present in every single one of Team Rick's interactions with the denizens of the Alexandria Safe-Zone. Led by Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh), their new home was almost too idyllic for any of them to trust. "People out there are always looking for an angle," Rick (Andrew Lincoln) told Deanna. "Looking to play on your weakness. They measure you by what they can take from you. »

'The Walking Dead' Season 5, Episode 12 Preview

23 February 2015 9:03 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Carl (Chandler Riggs) explores an abandoned house as Rick's group finally makes it to the Alexandria Safe Zone in two clips from next week's episode of The Walking Dead, "Remember", airing Sunday, March 1 at 9 Pm Et on AMC. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until Sunday to see whether or not a walker (or group of walkers) lurks behind the door Carl is seen approaching in this scene, but this footage is strikingly similar to a scene from the midseason premiere, "What Happnened and What's Going On", where Tyreese (Chad Coleman) was going through the childhood home of Noah (Tyler James Williams), and he was bit by a walker that caused his eventual death. Does this scene hint that we may lose Carl next?

The second clip shows Rick expressing his concern about handing over all of their weapons to the folks at Alexandria, as Aaron (Ross Marquand) suggests that Rick »

16 February 2015 4:00 AM, PST | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

Rick's trust issues come to the surface in "The Distance." Rick (Andrew Lincoln) questions the new character Aaron (Ross Marquand) in a short scene. But, Aaron is not forthcoming with information, but why? It would appear that both characters do not trust each other. This episode will air February 22nd. As well, the character Aaron will appear in at least four episodes of Seas. 5, with Aaron central to the comic book. More will be revealed of Aaron in just a few days. As well, a short synopsis has been released for "The Distance." Somewhat obtuse, the logline reads: "after withstanding a spectacular storm, Rick and the others meet what appears to be a friendly person, but find themselves mistrustful." This mistrust can be seen in the preview clip for "The Distance," which is hosted below. Showing Date: Feb. 22nd, 2015. Director: Larysa Kondracki. 'Walking Dead' Season 5 Midseason Character Posters

28 January 2015 8:43 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

This Sunday will be a huge day for sports fans as they gear up for Super Bowl Xlix, but for another, possibly larger group of fans, the day also starts the one-week countdown until The Walking Dead returns for the back half of Season 5 on Sunday, February 8. Today, AMC has released new character posters featuring the main survivors of this zombie apocalypse. The portraits feature Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carol (Melissa Suzanne McBride), Tara (Alanna Masterson), Tyreese (Chad Coleman), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Glenn (Steven Yeun).

The midseason premiere, entitled "What Happened and What's Going On" picks up after the last episode of 2014, "Coda", where the group lost another beloved member. Their journey to Washington D.C. has also been dashed, after Eugene finally confessed that he does not actually »

10 Weird Early Performances By The Walking Dead Actors

23 January 2015 1:08 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

tumblr

It doesn’t always use them to their fullest and has a unfortunate habit of bumping half of them off, but The Walking Dead has one of the best ensemble casts on television. Granted, it’s nearest competitor is fellow AMC show Mad Men – and besides that, most television ensembles are in comedies, cop shows or soap operas – but still. That’s saying a lot with that competition.

From the surprisingly convincing American accent by plummy Brit Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes to B-movie actor Norman Reedus putting in the real acting chops as Daryl Dixon, from pop singer Emily Kinney stretching her talents as Beth to the evolving talents of Chandler Riggs as Carl, it’s a strong bunch.

What’s most surprising is that, for the most part, the stars of The Walking Dead aren’t big names. There may be a couple of “hey, it’s that guy! »

Mercy (2014)

Written by: Matt Greenberg, Stephen King (Short Story)

Directed by: Peter Cornwell

Cast: Chandler Riggs (George), Dylan McDermott (Jim Swann), Mark Duplass (Uncle Lanning), Francess O’Connor (Rebecca), Joel Courtney (Buddy), Hana Hayes (Girl Next Door), Amanda Walsh (Charlotte), Chris Browning (Frank), Shirley Knight (Mercy)

If you notice from the credits, “Mercy” is a feature length film that is based on a short story from the modern day master of horror himself, Stephen King. In my humble opinion, I don’t think that Stephen King is one of those guys who you either love or hate. Regardless, of whether you judge him exclusively within the horror genre or when films based on his work crossed out of horror, such as “The Green Mile”. There is something from Stephen King for everyone, and at least one of the many things he wrote that resonates »

Get Excited For The Return Of The Walking Dead Season Five With New Artwork

7 January 2015 10:31 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With little over a month until its much-anticipated return, AMC has unveiled a piece of key art for The Walking Dead Season Five.

Teasing the remaining eight episodes, the image sees Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes stare ominously towards the camera, with the main focus being on a discarded map with scrawled writing on it that reads: “The New World’s Gonna Need Rick Grimes.”

Following the events hitherto, Rick and his ragtag crew now find themselves on the road once again, with the possibility of a fabled cure lurking within Washington D.C.. Close to breaking point, it’s up to Lincoln’s fearless leader to wrestle things under control as their collective hope teeters dangerously close to the brink.

With a sixth season already on the way alongside the upcoming companion series — which is primed to take the flesh-eating action to Los Angeles — AMC’s reanimated juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. »

5 January 2015 9:48 AM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead who live in the Midwest and have a special place in their heart for the katana sword-slashing Michonne, the increasingly capable Carol Peletier, or even the conniving, ruthless Governor should be pleased to know that Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, and David Morrissey have been announced as guests at Walker Stalker Con: Chicago, taking place in February.

Press Release – “Chicago, Il – In addition to the 19 guests previously announced, Walker Stalker Con has announced that Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, and David Morrissey, will be attending the convention, located at the Navy Pier, downtown in Chicago, Il on February 21 & 22, 2015.
