Sasheer Zamata is Leaving Saturday Night Live Too Soon

22 May 2017 6:30 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

In a weekend that saw two beloved SNL members departing the show, we now have news of a third in Sasheer Zamata.   Most of the news went to the fact that Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer would be leaving the show.  However, just recently we found out that Zamata, 31, will be leaving the show as well. Zamata joined the cast of SNL during its 38th season in 2014, at a time when the show was being criticized for its lack of diversity. Since then, she has been known for her impersonations of Rihanna, Michelle Obama as well as Beyonce

Dwayne Johnson’s Xentrex Male Enhancement Commercial on SNL Killed It

22 May 2017 3:30 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

While Dwayne Johnson’s faux Presidential bid with Tom Hanks and the departures of Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer got the most attention on SNL over the weekend, it was this parody commercial that I found to be the most entertaining.   Saturday Night Live has done a fine job at poking fun of big pharmaceutical companies and their ridiculous commercials for the majority of their products.  Whether it’s to quit smoking, stop Ibs, or fight off depression it seems that all the commercials of these products follow a similar path:  make it seem happy, use soft narrating, list a billion side

‘Saturday Night Live’: As Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata Exit, We Remember Their Best Sketches

22 May 2017 3:07 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Saturday Night Live” went out on a high note this weekend with The Rock as host, but the season finale also marked the departure of three cast members. While Bobby Moynihan had already announced he was leaving (and thus we had time for a tribute), there was less notice to offer farewells for fellow exiting cast members Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata.

Bayer sneakily announced her news on Instagram just hours before the finale began. Thus it felt symbolic when Moynihan and Bayer took part in a graduation sketch – allowing fans to subtly say goodbye to them during the episode. Moynihan also got to wear the Drunk Uncle attire again on Weekend Update, and Bayer went out on a high note with the Rko movie set skit and the parody for Cartier’s fidget spinner.

Exclusive: Bobby Moynihan Addresses 'Saturday Night Live' Departure After Nine Seasons

"When I was a kid would tape the audio of SNL off the TV and listen to it on the bus," Moynihan recalled during his lengthy Instagram message. "At the 40th I was the Land Shark. I remember watching the Mothers Day Special and seeing Chris Farley and his Mom and saying to my Mom 'Maybe one day we will do that?'. This past weekend brought the final episode in the 42nd season of Saturday Night Live. ‘SNL’ Cast Departures: A Winning Season Still Has Its Challenges

21 May 2017 9:07 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Alec Baldwin has loomed so large over the breakout season “Saturday Night Live” just concluded that he makes you almost forget about the cast. But it’s the strength of Lorne Michaels’ core unit that typically dictates the vitality of this show over its four-plus decades on the air.

A trio of cast departures in recent days is a reminder that if and when Donald Trump leaves the headlines–and that may not be for quite a while–“SNL” is going to be judged in ways Baldwin can’t obscure if he’s not needed to play the president. The show has never been stronger, and yet there’s lots of new questions as to who Michaels can count on to keep his franchise healthy for the future.

Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata all signaled their exits over the past week. It’s entirely possible more offseason departures could yet yet be announced, though »

Saturday Night Live” hasn’t even been in its off-season for an entire day, but it’s already time to bid adieu to another cast member. Sasheer Zamata will not return for “SNL” Season 43, Variety has confirmed.

Zamata’s decision marks the third departure for “SNL” in nearly just as many days — this past Saturday was also the final episode for Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer, who announced their departure prior to the finale. Like Bayer and Moynihan, Zamata was not given an official “goodbye” following Dwayne Johnson and Katy Perry’s episode, although photos that have surfaced online indicate that they were given special treatment off-air.

Over the course of her four seasons on the NBC series, Zamata embodied characters and celebrity impressions including Michelle Obama, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Lupita Nyong’o, Taraji P. Henson, and Janelle from “How 2 Dance with Janelle.” She’s also had roles outside of the late-night show in “Yoga Hosers,” “Sleight »

The 17 Funniest Sketches From 'Saturday Night Live's Politically Charged Season 42

21 May 2017 1:55 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Between Donald Trump's unexpected rise to the presidency to Sean Spicer and Kennyanne Conway's unconventional relationship with the press, this season of Saturday Night Live, which came to an end over the weekend, has been one of the most political seasons in decades – and found a rich vein of material to tap on a weekly basis.

However, aside Alec Baldwin and Melissa McCarthy's celebrated guest starring roles, SNL also struck gold with some hilarious new characters (like Kate McKinnon's Debette Goldry), beautifully shot pre-taped segments and good, old-fashioned sketch writing.

Check out our list of the absolute best bits of comedy from the past season below. [Note: These entries are presented in chronological order, and do not include some of the season's amazing monologues, as they weren't technically sketches.]
