- Matthew Kennedy was born on March 14, 1957 in Redding, California, USA. He is an actor and writer, known for Urban Jungle (2009), Queer Icon: The Cult of Bette Davis (2009) and Three Vaudeville Women: May Irwin, Marie Dressler, and Eva Tanguay (2008).
- Was inspired to write the biography of Joan Blondell at the suggestion of Norman Powell, Blondell's son, during an interview for Powell's 2001 American Movie Classics documentary Hollywood's Best Kept Secrets.
- Teaches Film History and Appreciation at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Anthropology of Homosexualities at City College of San Francisco.
