Va-va-voom! We know the nude bra was under there, but Kim Kardashian was otherwise playing a game of how-low-can-you-go during her day out in San Diego, Calif., today. The E! star was in town to visit her maternal grandmother, Mary Jo, along with her daughter, North; mom Kris Jenner; and sister Kourtney Kardashian, who had brought son Mason and daughter Penelope along as well. For the outing, which included a trip to the famed San Diego Zoo, Kim wore a distressed denim skirt and a matching chambray shirt, left sexily unbuttoned nearly down to her navel. Hey, why abandon signature style when you're on the road?! Kris certainly seemed to have a time today, sharing a photo of her »

A Belated Tribute to Meshach Taylor and His Groundbreaking Designing Women Character

9 July 2014 11:45 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Because he wore women’s clothes, because he did great impersonations, because he had a high, nervous laugh that made playing it cool all but impossible, and because he was a man who wasn’t fettered by any great concern over his masculinity, Anthony Bouvier, the role played by the late Meshach Taylor on Designing Women, was one of the great enduring pleasures of my childhood.I grew up mostly in Atlanta, where the sitcom was set. My grandmother and her Buckhead friends were the kind of women who might have hired Sugarbaker’s, the design run by sisters Julia (Dixie Carter) and Suzanne (Delta Burke) Sugarbaker, along with Mary Jo Shively (Annie Potts) and Charlene Frazier Stillfield (Jean Smart). For me, seeing those Southern Living–inspired interiors represented one of the first times I recognized my world on TV. That part of my world, anyway. The elementary school I »

Must See Classic Queer TV: Watch 'Killing All The Right People,' The AIDS-Themed Episode of 'Designing Women' (1987)

20 May 2014 6:56 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

A new series here on /bent highlighting mainstream television's Lgbt-themed episodes through the decades continues with an episode from the second season of "Designing Women" that  progressively -- certainly given it was 1987 and a network television show set in Georgia -- tackled AIDS.  A young Tony Goldwyn plays a friend of the fabulous "Designing" quartet of Dixie Carter, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Delta Burke who comes to them asking to "design" his funeral, because he has contracted AIDS.  The women encounter prejudice based on their unquestioned decision to help him, leading to a tour-de-force speeches by both Carter's Julia and Pott's Mary Jo that only makes you wonder what it was like to be in a suburban living room in 1987 watching it (on CBS!). Though there's still a mild conservative tinge to the whole thing (and the ending is abrupt and odd), it's a powerful and important (not to »

'Gentleman's Guide', Neil Patrick Harris' 'Hedwig' lead nominations for the 2014 Tony Awards

29 April 2014 6:15 AM, PDT | - PopWatch | See recent - PopWatch news »

Fully realizing its underdog appeal, the cheeky musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder slayed the competition this morning with a whopping 10 Tony nominations, including nods for both of its tireless leading men, Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham. (Had it been eligible as a new musical, Hedwig probably would have easily tied Guide, as score and book would have been slam dunks). Trailing these shows with seven »
