- Born and raised in Washington, D.C. his uncle was a successful character actor in the 60's and 70's. When he died, Lawrence decided to be in just "one" film to honor his uncle's memory. After working in "Gods & Generals" Lawrence went to New York to study under every Acting Coach that would teach him. In 2012, a wardrobe mistake in "Wish You Well" gave Lawrence two opportunities 1) to join SAG/Aftra, and 2) to heed the film's screenwriter David Baldacci's advice. Lawrence immediately enrolled in Yale Professor Marc Lapadula's class and spent the next five years learning screenwriting. During this same five years, Lawrence volunteered at his local television station where he became a cameraman, floor director, control-booth director, producer, and talent. Lawrence also "went everywhere and did everything" and has now been in 85 films. In the past six years, Lawrence wrote 24 feature screenplays and 14 short scripts producing 9 of those into SAG/Aftra short movies all of which have earned 355 Awards on IMDb. His first black and white movie "RevelationZ" is now on Amazon Prime Video. In 2022, Lawrence moved to Los Angles to pitch his screenplays. He filmed his 9th short "Consequential" there and is green lit to shoot his 10th short "In-Closure" in 2023. He was also cast by Disney Studios as "Wheels" on "Grownish." - Lawrence Whitener was born and raised in Washington, D.C. His uncle played Nils the Blacksmith on "The Rifleman" and later Jake Shakespeare on "Arrest and Trial." Every week, Uncle Joe would call to tell which other television show he could be seen on. When Joe died in 1998 in L.A., the movie "Gods & Generals" was casting for Extras in D.C. Lawrence decided to be in "one" movie to honor his uncle's memory. Lawrence was hooked and trained with every acting coach in NYC that would see him. He then went on to act in over 100 films earning 10 Best Actor awards. While doing that, Lawrence worked at his local television station first as a cameraman, then floor director until he was finally Directing. While doing all of that, he also studied for five years with Yale Screenwriting Professor Marc Lapadula who called him one of his best students. Lawrence wrote a short script and produced it as a TV Play. It was so well received, he shot it again on location in Baltimore. "RevelationZ" is now playing on Amazon Prime. Lawrence went on to write, produce, and direct ten more SAG-Aftra short films. While doing all of the above, Lawrence also wrote 25 feature screenplays of every genre.
