I.T. Review: Pierce Brosnan Will Have You Covering Your Webcam

27 September 2016 11:43 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Pierce Brosnan has more than a few network issues in I.T., a techno-thriller from Director John Moore. The film is essentially the psycho stalks family storyline. It starts off promising; then falls prey to convention. That said, Brosnan is a more than capable actor in any role. He delivers his standard strong performance and saves I.T. from being altogether rote.

Pierce Brosnan stars as Mike Regan, a wealthy businessman on the verge of taking his aviation company public. His press presentation encounters a technical glitch that is quickly addressed by a new temp, Ed Porter (James Frecheville). Mike has been having Wi-Fi issues in his ultra-modern mansion. He invites Ed over to work his technical magic. Ed takes a keen interest in Mike's seventeen year old daughter (Stefanie Scott). He begins to stalk the girl, much to the alarm of his boss. As Mike drops the hammer on Ed's intrusions, »

I.T. Review

24 September 2016 8:24 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

I.T. is one of those VOD sleepers you expect absolutely nothing from, yet – in the most base-value sense – John Moore’s creepy tech-driven thriller gets the job done. Scenes may feel like a tutorial in suspense and predictable plot movement, but Pierce Brosnan is just too damn smooth to ignore (like that matured, smokey Scotch he’s sipping on above).

Age hasn’t dampened this ex-Bond stud’s charms in the least, and he works well as a billionaire family man who turns primal when some jabroni threatens the ones he loves. Admittedly, you won’t be challenged by material here, but minimal genre satiation is achieved through “Peeping Tom” surveillance and satirical warnings directed towards our own internet-obsessed lifestyles.

Hey, not everything can be a five-star experience – there’s a time and place for a Burger King quickie.

Review: I.T., A High Tech Throwback

23 September 2016 11:00 AM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Since nowadays we can’t go two seconds without checking our cell phones and everyone seems to be spending enormous amounts of time online, cautionary tales about our overdependence on technology have suddenly become all the rage. I.T. is the latest, very modest entry into this little subgenre. Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan in full “rich bastard” mode) is an aviation tycoon living in an inmaculate, top-of-the-line smart house with wife Rose (a wasted Anna Friel) and daughter Kaitlyn (Stefanie Scott). He has it all, until he makes the mistake of inviting over his company’s weird I.T. guy Ed Porter (James Frecheville), in appreciation for saving his behind during a work presentation. Ed, of course, is a loon with a few screws loose and pretty soon he...

Film Review: ‘I.T.’

23 September 2016 1:23 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Appropriately enough for a movie titled “I.T.,” there is a preponderance of hard drives, software, satellite tracking networks, cutting-edge surveillance systems, and banks of large-format monitors on display throughout director John Moore’s slickly produced techno-thriller. But it falls largely on the shoulders of lead player Pierce Brosnan to provide a welcome human touch to the proceedings, with his persuasive portrayal of an analog man in a digital world.

With his Irish accent a tad more pronounced than usual, Brosnan plays Mike Regan, a private aviation tycoon who’s poised to expand his business with a new Uber-style app that will allow aircraft owners to sublet their jets. Normally, Regan is not a man who’s comfortable with innovative technology; truth to tell, he often needs help from his wife Rose (Anna Friel) just to operate the coffee maker in their lavishly appointed “smart home.” And he’s extremely uncomfortable »

Plot: An air transport tycoon (Pierce Brosnan) has his world turned upside-down by a psychotic I.T. consultant (James Frecheville). Review: I can’t say I expected all that much from Pierce Brosnan’s latest vehicle, I.T. First Full Trailer for Technology Thriller 'I.T.' Starring Pierce Brosnan

5 August 2016 9:12 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"Change everything – passwords, codes – secure this place!" Another one of these. Rlj Entertainment has released the first official trailer for a film called I.T. (already a boring title), a technology thriller about a successful business owner whose life is sabotaged by a mentally deranged It guy. Pierce Brosnan stars, along with James Frecheville, Anna Friel, Stefanie Scott, Michael Nyqvist, and Jason Barry. This is yet another fear-mongering "technology is scary!" movies, where it seems like the people behind it don't even actually understand how most of this technology works. Of course the It guy is creepy, and of course this is from the same guy who made A Good Day to Die Hard. I don't recommend it, only if you're curious. Here's the first official trailer (+ teaser poster) for John Moore's I.T., originally from Yahoo: Mike Regan has everything he could ever want, a beautiful family and a top of the line smart house. »
