30 December 2010 11:25 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

The producer of Skins has promised that series five of the drama will have more "silliness" and "fun" than series four. Earlier this year, some fans reacted angrily to the decision to brutally kill off the character of Freddie (Luke Pasqualino), while the programme's executive producer also admitted that the series should have been less depressing. Now, Skins producer Matt Strevens has assured viewers that the upcoming series will not be as dark as the last run. "Things were heavier in the last series because the characters were older and had bigger things to deal with," he (more) »

The Notable Films of 2011: Part One

13 December 2010 7:39 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Back for its third year (see the 2010 edition) and bigger than ever, today kicks off the first in a fifteen-part look at the various cinematic releases hitting the U.S. in 2011. Each 'part' contains brief descriptions and editorial opinion/analysis of varying length covering twenty films. Expect the remaining ones to go up between now and the first major releases in mid-January.

Like all cinematic lists set within a timeframe, there's some overlap. Some films here have already opened worldwide but have yet to hit the U.S., some upcoming films you'd expect to be here aren't because they're either still in development or have already announced 2012 release dates, some were on last year's list but got delayed so have been included again (but with all new analysis).

I confined my list to films that have either set 2011 release dates or had begun/completed production, and only films that have »

One flick we're hoping stands a ghost of a chance at the box office next year is Todd Lincoln's The Apparition. Though we revealed the first two images from the film last week, information has been pretty scant thus far. However, that changed a bit today.

In an interview with The La Times star Tom Felton dropped the following on curious fans:

"It’s a sci-fi thriller with a dash of horror, and we shot it in Berlin,” Felton said of the film. “It’s based around the paranormal. Ashley Greene from the ‘Twilight’ films is the lead, and Sebastian Stan is in it. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. My character is the instigator of all the madness, all the experiments, and he’s in search of proof, and, of course, that leads to the downfall of the group. It’s kind of in the tradition of ‘Flatliners, »
