This almost slipped by us... thanks to the several readers who emailed or sent me tweets about it. Nickelodeon has ordered 20-episodes of a new half-hour comedy project titled The Haunted Hathaways, from writer-producer Robert Peacock. The series centers on a single mother (played by Ginifer King) and her daughters (Amber Montana, Breanna Yde), who move to New Orleans and learn that their new house is already occupied by a father (played by Chico Benymon) and his sons (Curtis Harris, Lil’ P-Nut). And as if that isn't already enough of a surprise, they further discover that the father and his sons happen to be ghosts. By the way, in case you haven't already »

How exactly (or if) race plays any part in the narrative, we don't know yet. »

Whenever I happen to change the channel to Nickelodeon, without fail it will always be airing the latest episode of some bizarre creation that, for whatever reason, has somehow become popular. Please, don’t read that as negativity; weird is a better bet than trying to be plain, vanilla pudding normal. Just look at Adventure Time. That show is without a doubt this generation’s most strange concoction, but it deserves every ounce of popularity it’s managed to scrounge up. I can only hope Nickelodeon’s latest creation finds the same comfort zone of weirdness, especially since they’ve committed to 20 episodes. May I introduce to you Nickelodeon’s The Haunted Hathaways.
Coming from comedy writer-producer Robert Peacock, The Haunted Hathaways is the story of a very unconventionally blended family. No, we aren’t talking about a Scottsman who married a Persian and their wacky adventures – though that might be pretty cool. »

Exclusive: Nickelodeon has handed a 20-episode order to The Haunted Hathaways, a half-hour project from veteran comedy writer-producer Robert Peacock. Created by Peacock, The Haunted Hathaways features an unconventional blended family and can be described as The Brady Bunch with a supernatural twist. It centers on a mom (Ginifer King) and her daughters (Amber Montana, Breanna Yde) who move to New Orleans and discover that their new house is already occupied by a dad (Chico Benymon) and his sons (Curtis Harris, Lil’ P-Nut)… who happen to be ghosts. Boyce Bugliari & Jamie McLaughlin, creators of the 2011 Nick series Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures, have come on board as showrunners. The Haunted Hathaways was originally picked up to pilot in August. It joins another recently picked up Nickelodeon series, Dan Schneider’s Sam & Cat, starring iCarly‘s Jennette McCurdy and Victorious‘ Ariana Grande reprising their roles. »
