Netflix Casts Its ‘Umbrella Academy’ Family

A little less than a month ago Netflix had announced that X-Men star Ellen Page had signed on to the upcoming The Umbrella Academy series to play the role of Vanya Hargreeves aka The White Violin. Now Netflix has added five more actors to the Hargreeves family.

From left to right:

Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn) will play Number Five: At the age of 10, The Boy travelled 50 years into the future in which Sir Reginald warned him that he could never go back. After 50 more years, Number Five finds a way to return but returns to the current date in his 10 year old state despite the rest of his siblings aging at a normal rate, now 30. Due to the time travel The Boy does not age.

The cast is set for The Umbrella Academy. David Castaneda Joins Billy Crystal Comedy 'We Are Unsatisfied'
David Castaneda is joining the Billy Crystal/Ben Schwartz comedy We are Unsatisfied.

The feature, from first-time director Matt Ratner, is about the unlikely friendship between a struggling stand-up comedian from L.A. (Schwartz), who is forced to move back home to Eastern Long Island, and charismatic, alcoholic dermatologist (Crystal).

Castaneda will play Ruis, the friendly security guard/aspiring police officer boyfriend of Schwartz's onscreen sister.

Kevin Can Wait writer Peter Hoare wrote the feature that will be produced by Ratner, Chris Mangano and Rick Rosenthal. Matt Bronson, Matt Jacobs, Bert Kern, Alexander R. Madorsky and Nick Morton will executive produce.

David Castaneda Joins Benicio Del Toro in Lionsgate's 'Soldado'
The Soldado crew is adding one more to its ranks.

David Castaneda has joined the production of Lionsgate's follow-up to 2015's Sicario, which will center on the characters portrayed by Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin in the Denis Villeneuve-directed original.

The sequel will follow Del Toro's hitman and Brolin's CIA officer as they kidnap the daughter of a drug cartel’s top gangster in an attempt to start a war within the cartel. Castaneda is joining the cast in a supporting role as a smuggler based on the American side of the border.

Soldado is being directed by Italian helmer Stefano Sollima from a script by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan....

David Castaneda Joins ‘Sicario’ Sequel ‘Soldado’
David Castaneda has joined Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin in Lionsgate’s “Soldado,” the sequel to the critically acclaimed “Sicario.”

Catherine Keener was also recently announced to have joined the cast.

“Gomorra” helmer Stefano Sollima is directing the film, which was scripted by “Sicario” scribe Taylor Sheridan. In the film, Brolin and del Toro try to provoke a war with the Sonoran drug cartel by kidnapping Isabel Reyes, the daughter of the cartel’s top gangster.

In a September interview, Sollima said that the film, initially billed at a “Sicario” sequel, will be “a completely different story, with just two of the characters that you met in ‘Sicario.'”
