Schaefer believes that the show wasn't cancelled however and, on the duo's podcast, offered her take on the show's demise.
She said, "To clarify, we were not cancelled. We weren’t picked up. Canceled implies at mid-season they axed you because you were failing. We were not failing. I want to be very clear. Our ratings were up from season one. Our ratings were comparable, if not better, than every other cable, late night show. I just want to be very clear about that. "
Schaefer continued, "I’m very proud of the show that we did. I’m very grateful that we got to do it. But, MTV just decided it wasn’t »
Fans of the late night Tuesday MTV talk show Nikki & Sara Live, hosted by comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer, received devastating news yesterday via a podcast from the show’s hosts confirming that their second season on MTV would be their last. According to Variety, Glaser and Schaefer, who are also the show’s executive producers, emphasized to the show’s fans that they were not axed mid-season by MTV but simply not renewed for a third season. “We weren’t picked up,” Schaefer said in the podcast. “Cancelled implies at midseason they axed you because you were failing. “To clarify we were not cancelled,” Schaefer said in the podcast. “We weren’t picked up. Cancelled implies at midseason they axed you because you were failing. We were not failing. I want to be very clear. Our ratings were up from season one. Our ratings were comparable, if not better, than every other cable, late night show. I’m very proud of the show that we did. I’m very grateful that we got to do it. But MTV decided it just wasn’t part of their programming future.”

Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer announced today on their podcast, "You Had to Be There," that MTV did not pick up Nikki & Sara Live for a third season. The show, which premiered on January 29 of this year, had two twelve-episode seasons, with the last ending on October 29. As they explain on the podcast, the numbers weren’t bad, actually improving in its second season, but the show just wasn’t the “runaway hit” MTV was hoping for. You can listen to the podcast episode below, in which they mourn the loss of the show, talk about their favorite moments with their former staff, and take small jabs at MTV. If only they were sixteen, pregnant, and having a super-sweet birthday party. »

A pair of summer shows got good news yesterday. The CW ordered a 24-episode second season of Whose Line Is It Anyway? while CBS also renewed Under the Dome. I knew there was a chance of additional episodes, but let’s hope they don’t try to stretch the premise for several seasons. It’s getting awfully stuffy under that dome.
TVLine got a few details on the upcoming Supernatural spin-off, which will involve “clashing hunter and monster cultures” in Chicago.
Look, this talk about Major Crimes threatening to kill off or write out Rusty better just be talk. Major Crimes would be just a better-than-average procedural, even with its amazing cast, without him.
Please, show, can you keep him?

The show is still a relatively new one, having just launched this year in April. Schumer herself and Daniel Powell are the show’s executive producers and if you’re not sure what the sketch comedy is all about, you can still watch the very first episode, titled “Bad Decisions” on the Comedy Central website.
The great news of a second season renewal came when the comedian made the announcement herself on Monday via Twitter.
“Hey! #InsideAmy Schumer got picked up for Season 2! Thanks @ComedyCentral New episode tomorrow at 10:30/9:30 Central,” she wrote.
The Viacom-owned, funny, cable network, Comedy Central also confirmed the news. The show made for Comedy Central’s top premiere of 2013! The best news? The premier really drew in male viewers. Following a new episode of Tosh.0, Inside Amy opened to 1.6 million total viewers. »

Zap2it: How did you start stand-up?
Nikki Glaser: I started at 18 or 19 and have been doing it ever since. I did theater in high school and loved it. I didn't have a passion for [stand-up], and I stumbled upon it. And when I went away to college, people told me I was funny and should start stand-up. I Googled it. I grew up watching Leno and Conan and Letterman, but I didn't really have an affinity for stand-up, mainly because I did not see many females doing it. Then I saw Sarah Silverman and Wendy Liebman, and I thought, "Oh my God, this is what I need to be doing."
Zap2it: Where did you go to college, and what did you study?
Nikki Glaser: I was at University of Colorado-Boulder, then transferred to University of Kansas and studied English because I knew I wanted to do stand-up. »
Everyone knows that the best conversations happen in the ladies' bathroom. So that's exactly where we shot our first web series, Stallin' with Dave Hill. For our fourth episode, Dave interviewed his good friend and fellow comedian Nick Kroll, star of his own new show on Comedy Central, "Kroll Show."
After settling into our office bathroom set and thoroughly examining our Diy coffee mugs, Dave and Nick discuss the finer points of Nick's career, including being mistaken for Chris Kattan by Padma Lakshmi on Twitter. Kroll also talks about his recent trip to South America and shares a particularly dark vacation story (that for legal reasons we're going to say is not true), all before being hunted down by the "Good Television Police" outside our office. Don't worry, though. He got away.

Everyone knows that the best conversations happen in the ladies' bathroom. So that's exactly where we shot our first web series, Stallin' with Dave Hill. For our third episode, Dave sat down with rising stand-up comedian and "Best Week Ever" cast member Michael Che!
Che has made a name for himself in the New York stand-up scene and was recently listed on Rolling Stone's "50 Funniest People Now". During his visit to our office bathroom set, Che talked about being a "native" New Yorker, the first time he ever did stand-up and how public restrooms are like the police ("I don't want to use it, but I like to know it's always there") among other, slightly more scatological things.

Sure, it's terrific landing a TV show, and with your best friend, no less. And it's wonderful making it in the notoriously tough field of comedy. But the best perk, say Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer of "Nikki & Sara Live!" airing Tuesdays on MTV, is having stylists.
"We get styled, which is the most amazing thing about my job right now," Glaser says Zap2it of their fashion gurus, Alana Kelen and Dani Charlton. "Out of everything I am doing -- I have a comedy show; I get to do comedy with my best friend. I cannot say enough about having someone else pick out clothes that look good on you.
"I have never worked with another stylist," Glaser says. "I know what I like, but I walk in a store and get overwhelmed by choices."
The two women say being on TV has made them reassess their styles.
