Haklar Dezso was born in 1933 in Magyarlak, Hungary as Dezso Haklar. He was an actor, known for Doubt (2008). He was married to Helen Windisch Haklar. He died on August 13, 2011 in Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center, Edison, New Jersey, USA.

He was interred at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Hopelawn, Woodbridge, New Jersey.
He was the son of the late Istvan and Anna (Mezei) Haklar; predeceased by his siblings, Peter Haklar, Steven Haklar, and Elizabeth Haklar; survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen (Windisch) Haklar of Somerset, New Jersey; son Dennis and daughter-in-law Stephanie Haklar of Hillsborough, New Jersey; daughter Loriann and son-in-law Silvio Pacheo of Flemington, New Jersey; his brother Gyula (Julius) of Hungary; four sisters, Roszi (Rose) Pluhar Erdy of Edison, New Jersey; Maria Wolf of Perth Amboy, New Jersey; Irene Globits and Anna Horvath both of Hungary; five grandchildren, Eric Haklar, Steven Haklar, Cassandra Haklar, Nicollette Pacheo, and Ryan Pacheo.
He enlisted in the Hungarian Army where he served for three years. He moved to Budapest, Hungary to work as a locksmith and machinist until the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in which he fought the Communists. His brother, Gyula (Julius) and sister Roszi (Rose) escaped to the United States in February 1957 where they stayed at Camp Kilmer in Piscataway, New Jersey. He was sponsored by a family friend, Charles Bodo, to work as a machinist.
He was a Communicant of St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey and a longtime member of the Woodbridge Hungarian-American Citizens Club and the Hungarian American Atheltic Club of New Brunswick in New Jersey.
