Jonathan Ross: look who's talking – interview

2 September 2011 4:08 PM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

He doesn't like Chris Evans, thinks Simon Cowell is 'the dark lord' and, as for Gwyneth, he never fancied her anyway… On the eve of Jonathan Ross's new chatshow, Simon Hattenstone gets an earful

Jonathan Ross can't stop talking. Within minutes of meeting him, he has segued from the subject of madness to how he and Ricky Gervais think they didn't like Elo as kids because they made music for adult ears, to Ayn Rand and objectivism. He goes from his childhood penis wart that was so revolting that the man weeing next to him in a public toilet almost threw up ("it was the stench of dying flesh"), to digital media and brand diversification, to the furniture designer Joe Colombo, who died the day he was born. Sentences go unfinished or bleed into each other. Words, words, words, spewing out endlessly into the ether. Brainwaves and jokes and »

Adam Ant writes song about Russell Brand

15 August 2011 2:24 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Adam Ant has written a song about Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross in support of his friend Georgina Baillie. Ant had previously helped Baillie reunite with her grandfather Andrew Sachs. The pair had fallen out following the 'Manuelgate' scandal, when Ross and Brand left lewd messages on Sachs's answerphone which were broadcast on the radio. Baillie later joined Adam Ant's new band, the Good the Mad and the Lovely Posse, and Ant has now penned a song about Ross and Brand called 'Rubber Medusa', which will feature on a new album next year. Ant told The Guardian: "I call him the Rubber Medusa because he looks like rubber when he walks, and his hair is crazy. They think it's all over, and that they got off lightly. Well, I've got news for them... they haven't." The song reportedly features the lyric: "Look (more) »

Sachs, granddaughter 'reunited by Adam Ant'

Andrew Sachs has apparently patched things up with his granddaughter Georgina Baillie thanks to the intervention of Baillie's new boyfriend Adam Ant. Sachs is said to have fallen out with Baillie after the infamous Manuelgate scandal, in which Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross left a series of messages on Sachs's answering machine revealing that Brand had slept with Baillie. However, '80s popstar Ant - who has been dating Baillie for just over a month - wrote a letter to the former Fawlty Towers actor pleading with him to see his granddaughter again, and Sachs has now reportedly agreed to a meeting. Brand & Ross To Reunite On TV For First Time Since Sachs Scandal

19 January 2011 12:21 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Russell Brand and U.K. broadcaster Jonathan Ross are set to reunite on TV for the first time since the pair's controversial calls to actor Andrew Sachs almost cost them their careers.

The British comic quit his BBC radio show in 2008 after he and Ross faced a public backlash for leaving offensive messages on TV star Sachs' answer machine during a live broadcast. In the programme, the pair discussed Brand's fling with the 80-year-old's granddaughter Georgina Baillie.

Ross was suspended from his job at the BBC for 12 weeks without pay and was forced to step down from hosting The British Comedy Awards in 2008 for the first time since he began fronting the show in 1991.

The pair is now chancing a risque reunion when Ross hosts the prizegiving again later this month - Brand has been confirmed as one of the award presenters on the televised show.

And TV bosses at Britain's Channel 4 network are hoping the duo will cause a stir again to boost ratings, according to Britain's The Sun.

A source tells the publication, "We're dying for some fireworks for the inaugural event - and what better way than by putting (Ross) and Russell together live?

"They've never really addressed the Sachsgate row together so we're hoping they may make a few cheeky references to it on the show.

"We'll be standing by with the bleeper in case it gets too debauched, but the show is going out after the watershed." »
