Duane Carter began his career as a musician playing trumpet in jazz,
dance, and classical ensembles in and around the Los Angeles area. He
attended Locke High School in South Central L.A. along with many
notable musicians. After high school, he continued his education and
musical development at California State University Los Angeles,
focusing on both performance and composition. Duane went on to serve as
a United States Army Bandsman, where he not only performed but also had
the opportunity to write and lead several ensembles. Upon his return to
civilian life, Duane taught middle school and earned a Masters Degree
in Interdisciplinary Studies from California State University San
Bernardino. This degree encompassed the disciplines of Music, Theatre,
and English, bringing together his passions for the written word and
music composition. Duane has collaborated with his wife, filmmaker
Michelle Carter on several projects through their multimedia company,
Dinc Multimedia.
