Last weekend’s  If There Be Thorns, fans of Lifetime’s V.C. Andrews film adaptations got their first look at Bart Winslow — a sallow, worried boy whose sibling jealousies got a serious boost from his grandma Corrine and her creepy butler who moved in next door to Bart’s mom, Cathy, and her husband, Chris. Who are also brother and sister. Bart’s real dad is Grandma Corrine’s late husband and … well, you can see why the youngest of Cathy’s surviving sons might have a couple screws loose here and there. Which, says former Big Time Rush star James Maslow, who plays him in Sunday night’s Seeds … Continue reading →

Big Time Rush” fans are about to see a whole new side of James Maslow this Sunday as he takes on the lead role of Bart Foxworth in Lifetime’s “Seeds of Yesterday.” According to Maslow, the final installment of V.C. Andrews’ “Flowers in the Attic” saga is going to be a doozy. “There’s a lot of incest that goes on,” Maslow told TheWrap in a new episode of  “Drinking With the Stars.”  “But if you read the novels… it’s for a reason, given the terrible circumstances that these characters were put in when they were younger, they were trapped and locked in. »

"Seeds of Yesterday" Star Anthony Konechny Talks "Flowers In the Attic" Sequel and Costar James Maslow

6 April 2015 2:30 PM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

The "Flowers In the Attic" saga rages on, as the sordid tales of the Dollanganger family get even more twisted in Lifetime's adaptation of "Seeds of Yesterday." Picking up many years after the explosive events of "If There Be Thorns," which aired last night, the latest installment finds Cathy and Chris reuniting with their three children for one of the most dangerous -- and yes, still incestuous -- get togethers ever. Anthony Konechny picks up the role of Jory Sheffield, Cathy's son with deceased dancer ex Julian, in the third sequel ... a role that required the former fitness competitor to get comfortable in a wheelchair and drop some of his muscle. "In the book, Jory does become paralyzed," Konechny tells toofab's Brian Particelli, without revealing too much about how the tragedy happens. "I was able to get a wheelchair a couple weeks before we started filming, take that out and »

TV Review: Lifetime’s ‘If There Be Thorns,’ ‘Seeds of Yesterday’

3 April 2015 8:45 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In the high-stakes poker tournament of original TV movies, Lifetime has a hell of a hand to play with the remaining two editions of V.C. Andrews’ Dollanganger series. The first of the franchise, “Flowers in the Attic,” packed big ratings for the net, while follow-up “Petals in the Wind” pulled in decent but not as successful numbers. Enter “If There Be Thorns” and “Seeds of Yesterday,” which promise to keep the freak flag flying, drawing fans of the books and mere voyeurs along for the ride. The motto, here, seemingly, is if you can’t do classic, go for camp.

Airing on consecutive weekends, the third and fourth installments, like many a sequel, reinforce the law of diminishing returns, as Andrews’ original American horror story falls flat in the translation of the concluding volumes. On the upside, both are seemingly made for an excellent drinking game or tie-in with the board version of Taboo. »

Seeds of Yesterday on Lifetime: James Maslow explains the art of Bart

26 March 2015 7:00 AM, PDT | ChannelGuideMag | See recent ChannelGuideMag news »

Seeds of Yesterday, the fourth movie in Lifetime’s V.C. Andrews Dollanganger series, premieres Sunday, April 12 at 10/9Ct on Lifetime. What It’s Based On: The follow-up to Thorns hit bookstores in 1984 and marked a 15-year leap forward in the Sheffield family story. Lifetime of a Lesson: Sometimes your brother is a really lousy keeper. Seeds‘ most notable swerve from the novel is its omission of Corrine’s devious sibling Joel; instead, the now grown Bart (Big Time Rush’s James Maslow) remains deeply influenced by his zealot great-grandfather Malcolm Foxworth and turns his home into a re-creation of Foxworth Hall. Bart invites Cathy, Chris and … Continue reading →

Let James Maslow’s Abs Excite You for Lifetime’s ‘Flowers in the Attic’ Sequels

19 March 2015 11:21 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Following the success of Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind, Lifetime is back with the final two installments in the Dollanganger film series. And the two films -- If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday -- look like they took a note or two from the Fifty Shades of Grey film.

In the teaser, James Maslow’s abs are on full display as he looks through his closet for some (unnecessary) clothes to wear. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant plays Bart Sheffield, one of two half-brothers unaware of his parents’ incestuous relationship. But secrets in this family are hard to keep.

While an official trailer hasn’t made its way online, this is enough to whet the appetite.
