Butcher Boys (2013) Review

18 September 2013 6:59 AM, PDT | Best-Horror-Movies.com | See recent Best-Horror-Movies.com news »

Despite a few of the talents affixed to Butcher Boys (where the hell was Marilyn Burns) it erupts from a cinematic cave that could have kept it tucked away and spared viewers a few bucks as well as an hour and a half of their lives. Ali Faulkner saves the movie from running out of steam immediately and I heavily applaud her dedication to this role. Ultimately however Butcher Boys is something of a wreck. »

Butcher Boys Q&A with Directors Duane Graves and Justin Meeks

8 September 2013 7:30 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Directors Duane Graves and Justin Meeks are the subject of our latest Q&A feature, telling us about their experience with the recently released cannibal film, Butcher Boys:

Can you tell me how you got involved with Kim Henkel on this project? Was this something you came to him with or the other way around?

Duane Graves: We’ve had a long 16 year relationship with Kim Henkel. He was our college film professor back in the late 90′s. We took a year of screenwriting courses under him, and after graduating we kept in touch. Justin and I produced a trio of short horror films that Kim produced, and eventually we decided to do a feature film back in 2006 called “The Wild Man of the Navidad.” That film premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC and was picked up by IFC Films for release internationally. Butcher Boys Review

1 September 2013 10:01 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Oh boy, a movie from the creator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre himself, Tobe Hooper! Wait, it’s not Tobe Hooper? It’s Kim Henkel?

Butcher Boys was adapted by the guy who collaborated with Tobe Hooper on the story for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and also produced), and you’re going to market this as “From The Creator Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”? Well, if that isn’t some deceptive tomfoolery…

Butcher Boys is one of those cannibalistic-type cult movies much like Delicatessen or Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, where the psychopaths view people as a source of income and food, except the work by Duane Graves and Justin Meeks is nowhere as entraining as the movies mentioned above, or most of the genre, for that matter. In an attempt to be some type of low-budget cult classic, a rotten, stinky script tries to hit upon »

Review: Butcher Boys

29 August 2013 8:37 AM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

What came first…the chicken or the egg? The eternal question is not really a question at all. It depends on your own point of view. What you have as your foundation dictates the answer. With that in mind, what dictates that a scene or action is a trademark as opposed to being an homage (or a rip off for that matter)? It depends on our point of view. This thought process comes heavily into play for the viewer when watching Butcher Boys aka Bone Boys, Kim Henkel’s most accomplished work to date, brought to life by directors Justin Meeks and Duane Graves.

Animal Rights protesters gather outside a seemingly upscale restaurant. Sissy (Ali Faulkner), Mickey (Phillip Wolfe), Barbie (Tory Tomkins), and Kenny (Matt Henserling) are out celebrating Kenny’s birthday. While at a convenience store, they end up getting into trouble thanks to the incredibly troublesome Barbie (yes, »

The Butcher Boys are Rehashing Some Old Meat: A Movie Review

26 August 2013 3:29 PM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Phase 4 Films Directors: Duane Graves and Justin Meeks. Writer: Kim Henkel. Cast: Ali Faulkner, Edwin Neal, Marilyn Burns, Derek Lee Nixon, Karrie Cox and Sonny Carl Davis. Butcher Boys is a cannibal film set in Texas, from writer Kim Henkel. Horror fans will recognize Henkel's name from the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Henkel is still churning out cannibal films, but the Butcher Boys is tainted meat. Shot on a sparse budget, the Butcher Boys is full of cat and mouse chase sequences and not much more. Instead, the film seems to spin its wheels in the second and third acts. The story begins with four twentysomethings. You will hardly figure out their names before these two couples are being chased by a group of thugs, straight out of S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. Several minutes are spent with chase sequences, »
