Nathan Bezner was born in Sarasota, FL to Belinda Rosanne Corbus and
Kevin Francis Bezner. They then decided to move him every two years of
his life as they jumped from college to college, either teaching or
earning new degrees.
His love of film came from his mother, a woman who took him to Amadeus when he was three years old and showed him The Haunting when he was six. She was constantly trying to hone his film palette and, eventually, it stuck: he fell in love with the art. He shot his first 16mm short, a dystopian view of high school life in the future, when he was 16. It was a great moment for him (even though the film itself didn't turn out particularly well). He realized the magic of making movies was all he ever wanted to do.
Given Nathan's penchant for keeping obscenely late hours, he garnered the nickname Nightowl from his high-school brethren. When he finally did begin producing his own short film work, the moniker Nightowl Pictures seemed like a given.
