Katniss Cuts a Fine Heroic Figure in Latest Hunger Games: Catching Fire Poster

17 May 2013 8:02 AM, PDT | SciFiCool.com | See recent SciFiCool.com news »

I wonder where Peeta is. Check out the latest poster for Francis Lawrence’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, which finds Katniss standing tall with her bow and arrow. I bet she’s trying to shoot down a bird. You know, to eat. Probably. They should call it “Catching Bird”. Heh. Ahem. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Starring Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Alan Ritchson, »

First trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

15 April 2013 11:11 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The first trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has arrived online today, and fills us in on the story to come.

Catching Fire sees Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), winner of the 74th annual Hunger Games, returning to her home of District 12 as part of the Victors Tour. The trailer gives us a look at Philip Seymour Hoffman, who joins the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Game Maker, who will no doubt be instrumental in the creation of the Quarter Quell, which has all previous Hunger Games victors battling it out against each other. Any time an actor of his calibre joins a film there is something to be optimistic about.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend), and also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Alan Ritchson, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Willow Shields, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Amanda Plummer and Jeffrey Wright. »

Thg: Catching Fire Gets a Teaser Now Available Online: Destroy Katniss!

14 April 2013 8:45 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Thg: Catching Fire Gets a Teaser Now Available Online: Get rid of Katniss whichever way you can! The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, now has an online teaser trailer. This year's Best Actress Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence (for the comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook) is back as the fearless Katniss Everdeen, the futuristic gladiator who has become a major threat to the system. For what reason? Well, chiefly because Katniss consistently wins her fights. And winning is really an undesirable thing because people worship winners (also known as heroes), and that indicates that the populace will start worshiping Katniss and, as a result, want to emulate her and become winners all -- or something like that. (Make sure to scroll down to take a look at the Thg:cf trailer.) [Pictured above is a closeup of Oscar winner Lawrence as the gladiator Katniss.) "Because of her, they all pose a threat," laments veteran Donald Sutherland's cunning President Snow to Philip Seymour Hoffman's Plutarch Heavensbee. "Because of her, they all think they're invincible." The »
