Sharon Lawrence is 'Hitched,' ABC takes plunge with skyscraper show

"Hitched" has added a matriarch.

Sharon Lawrence has joined CBS' "Hitched," the comedy pilot by Josh Schwartz and Matt Miller, says The Hollywood Reporter.

She'll play the meddling mom to Rachel (Kristin Kreuk) a newlywed who just tied the knot to Brett (Jack Carpenter).

Previously cast are Thomas Middleditch as the hopeless romantic friend and Riki Lindhome as the Rachel's Bff.

Other TV news:

 - ABC has ordered "Downfall," a game show set on a skyscraper. For realz. Competitors try to answer trivia questions atop a skyscraper, and may see their winnings get chucked off the side of the building. They might even plunge over the side, but obviously that part will be tricky to design and clear.

Two CBS pilots add cast members

Terry Kinney has joined CBS' drama pilot "The Line," and Thomas Middleditch has joined Josh Schwartz's CBS comedy pilot "Hitched."

"Line" centers on an Atf agent (Dylan Walsh) who hunts down the most dangerous criminals.

Kinney, repped by Icm and manager Emily Gerson Saines, will play a bank robber who is a poet, philosopher and sociopath.

The ensemble "Hitched," which Schwartz co-wrote with Matt Miller, revolves around a newlywed couple (Kristin Kreuk and Jack Carpenter) dealing with their family and friends.

Middleditch ("Splinterheads"), repped by Wme and Kirsten Ames Management, will play their best friend, a hopeless, single romantic.
