Actor Rohit Pathak, who is currently seen in the web series ‘Dharavi Bank’, talks about his role and how it was to work with Suniel Shetty in it.
He says: “I’m playing the role of Thalaivan’s (Suniel Shetty) son-in-law and his right hand man named Rajan. I personally don’t need any preparation because I only follow the writer’s script and director’s vision to portray the part. So, it wasn’t very difficult for me to play the role.”
While briefing about his bond with Suniel, he adds: “I had most of my scenes with him. He has his own unique style, and aura and is a huge star of the 90s. But he never carries that baggage of being a star, there was so much comfort between us.”
“We shared a good rapport with each other and spent a lot of quality time discussing his films,...

Samit Kakkad, the director of the recently released streaming series ‘Dharavi Bank’, has called Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, a “one-take actor”. He was impressed by how well the actor was prepared for his part in the series.
Elaborating on the same, Kakkad said: “It is always a very enriching and fruitful experience when we get to work with actors such as Vivek who are aware of the pre-requisites and inner workings of the craft. He’s undoubtedly one of the hardest-working actors, and with his level of commitment from beginning to end, the process is made significantly simpler. The kind of preparation that he brings to the table is unparalleled.”
Vivek plays the role of Jcp Jayant Gavaskar in the Mx Original Series, which also stars his ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ co-star Suniel Shetty. Unlike the cops that Vivek has essayed earlier, this time around in ‘Dharavi Bank’, fury and rage...

Actress Sonali Kulkarni, who is known for her work in the Marathi film industry and has delivered good performances in “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Taxi No 9211”, will be soon seen in the streaming series “Dharavi Bank”.
The actress plays a politician in the series and her experience with the portrayal of the character has been quite fulfilling, considering the role is polar opposite to her in real life and brings in a sense of versatility for her.
The actress, who plays Chief Minister Janvi Surve in the series, said: “My personality has always been pleasant, fun, and honest type. Hence it was quite challenging for me to play the role of Janvi Surve. My character in ‘Dharavi Bank’ is that of an egoistic, hard-hearted and manipulative woman who is completely opposite to my real nature. I enjoy processes that test my versatility as an actor.”

Actor Suniel Shetty will be seen playing the role of Thalaivan – a powerful, ruthless and unattainable kingpin of India’s largest slum Dharavi in the upcoming series ‘Dharavi Bank’. To aesthetically portray the part of this 63-year-old villain, the team had to use prosthetics to make him look over 60.
Speaking about the actor’s commitment to this role, Director Samit Kakkad said, “Anna would report on location at 5 a.m. on the dot because it would take him four hours to do hair and make-up with the use of prosthetics.”
“Thalaivan’s character spans across different age groups in the series and to showcase this progression, we had to make Anna age himself because he is so fit that nobody would believe he is playing a 63-year-old without prosthetics.”
“He helms a Rs 30,000 crore empire and his face and posture had to reflect the responsibilities he has and the experiences...

Bhonsle (2018); Director: Devashish Makhija The film derives its name from the titular character Ganpat Bhonsle (played by Manoj Bajpayee). An ailing policeman who lives in a chawl. The narrative unfolds on the day of his retirement. Introductory sequence is juxtaposition of shots between dressing up of the elephant-God and Ganpat Bhonsle's changing of police uniform into normal attire. The plot of the film showcases certain aspects: Life of Bihari immigrants in Maharashtra. The way Marathi sentiment is used by lumpen taxi driver, Vilas (played by Santosh Juvekar) in order to get hold of the chawl. Even vilas isn't given much importance at the Marathi Morcha office. He uses religious occasions to concretize the induction of 'Marathi Manus' sentiment. At a certain stage, it becomes...

Bhonsle (SonyLiv)
Starring: Manoj Bajpayee, Ishita Chakraborty Singh, Virat Viabhav, Abhishek Bannerjee, Santosh Juvekar
Directed by Devashish Makhija
Strightaway, this is a persuasive and powerful film that shouldn’t be missed by anyone who has watched any film set in the cultural-political dynamics that govern life in the Mumbai chawls. As relevant as Saeed Mirza’s Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro and N Chandra’s Ankush (the two films that are most decidedly the reference points) Bhonsle has a gut-wrenching immediacy to it.
A palpable sense of infinite injustice seeps into a world and a culture rapidly being taken over by goons. Most unexpectedly the retired cop Ganpath Bhosle takes on the role of an unlikely hero, as he protects a young Bihari girl and her kid-brother from the wrath and disdain of a political henchman who want to use the ‘Marathi Manoos’ card to send all migrant labourers back to Bihar.

Devasish Makhija’s feature debut, “Ajji” was one of the most impressive productions to come out of India in 2017. As we have so often witnessed in cinema, following up on a great first film is quite a hard task, and Makhija found himself in that exact position, one year after his last film premiered in Busan. “Bhonsle” roughly follows the same paths “Ajji” did, including the Busan premiere, but instead results in a much more “Indian” movie than its predecessor. Let us take things from the beginning, though.
Bhonsle is having its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival
Bhonsle is a Marathi constable on the brink of a forced retirement, who tries to renew his contract with the police but finds himself repeatedly told to be patient. Furthermore, he lives a secluded, dead-end, lonely life, having no social interactions whatsoever, despite the respect his position commands among citizens. Eventually,...
